Your blood pressure is quite high, especially for your age, and it's appropriate for a workup to be done to try and find the cause of it, but you're not in any immediate danger due to it. Blood pressure is generally a long-term problem, and if your BP stays where it is, you may have heart problems, kidney problems, you name it, very early, but at that level there is not really any additional risk of short term consequences such as a stroke (which can happen when BP goes very high).
That you have ketones in your urine is a bit troubling if you weren't fasting at the time, your doctor may have taken some blood to test for serum glucose levels.
You're right to be concerned that your BP is so high, there is definately some problem with that and it sounds like you have your doctors looking into it, which is just what you need to be doing at the moment, there is no emergency, so though you will probably need some treatment, you don't need to worry about something terrible happening in the span of a month while you're waiting to see your cardiologist.

Well the first two answers are rubbish Celery does not lower blood pressure whether you eat 4 stalks or 40 Being older does not mean that you accept as inevitable a serious condition to befall you Nowadays at least in the West the control of blood pressure is easy often a single tablet daily will be enough What you are doing so far is fine especially exercise which is very important,.Your heart is a muscle and like all muscles is stronger with exercise The methods you are employing now will bring it down and given your initial reading is not very high to start with coupled with the fact that you have no risk factors other than your age and I am assuming you are White. I personally would not issue medication unless the BP rises further. So I would want to monitor your BP regularly regularly say monthly for 3 months then 6 monthily for as year then yearly until you die peacefully in a sleep of old age in about 20 years

Your blood pressure is high but not in the dangerous zone. From what you describe as your overall health there doesn't seem to be a direct reason. If, however, you have a family history of high blood pressure you may be discovering an impact from the gene pool. You need to be sure your doctor knows of all medications, both prescribed and over the counter, that you are taking. Birth control pills, Prednisone or other steroids, etc. can cause high blood pressure and OTC herbs/meds can have unexpected impact to overall health.
For the time being remain calm and continue in the routine you've described. You may end up on blood pressure medications while they further research the cause, and the meds could become a permanent part of your routine but they are easy to incorporate into your daily lifestyle.

I would ask if you were sitting or lying down when your pressure was taken. Was the pressure taken only once? Should be taken 3 times at 10 minute intervals. Many people have white coat syndrome that causes their pressure to go up at the Dr.s office. If ketones were found in your urine you are excreting protein. Do you take any supplements? I would found a good health food store and start getting some information. As to the blood pressure, time of day and eating can cause pressure to go up Hope this helps.

Your blood pressure should be below 125/75. There is a possibility that you could have 'white coat syndrome' where your bp taken in a doctor's office is higher than normal. Your best investment at this point would be a bp monitor that you could use to monitor your own pressure. They retail for about $45.

normal blood pressure is somewhere near 120 - 140 over 80 - 90.
there can be a lot of reasons yours is high, including being anxious at the doctor's office, heredity, pain, illness....
that being said one reading does not indicate high blood pressure and they should have you return once a week or so for a while to see if that reading remains consistent..
