I have a chiuahua in a wheel chair who has recently started losing the hair on the top of his tail. Could it be due to his injury or more likely an allergy?

it is sometimes normal.it might mean that it is growing a new coat and getting rid of old hair.or maybe it isn't getting enough protein in the food.brush the coat to help it remove old hair instead of having the hair fall everywhere.if there are any concerns, contact the vet.

Our chihuahua began losing his hair and when we took him to the vet they said he had a fungus. We had to give him an oral antibiotic (well anti-fungal I guess), a special spray, and shampoo. I have heard of other chihuahuas having fungus as well. It could be that. If it is, don't worry, all his hair came back after the treatments and he is as cute as ever now!

It is common becasue even as puppies are developing up they are going to lose hair that's lose from the frame. or it ould be that your puppy has malnutrition. that means you dont feed it on the whole whilst it demands to be fed.

if he can't reach it to itch it then it must be an outside source...like his wheelchair or something rubbing on it. If he can itch it or bite maybe it's fleas, an allergic reaction, mange... most likely allergies which are common during the fall.
