this question is EXTREMELY vague. there are so many different types of cancer, some genetic, some environmental and many other contributing factors. you dont even mention what type of cancer it is for pete's sake, how can you expect any sort of helpful response

small answer: YES, Sadly it can be dormant on one person and then the next gernreation it could show up. Cancer sucks
