I like this guy named Jesse and I think he likes me b/c he tries to impress me and he stands up for me. But my friend Devon told him I like him and he said "I don't go out with girls from our school". He tried to impress me by telling me he played with wooden swords, and today I took his spot by accident and he started to joke about it with me by sitting on the floor and he kept smiling at me. What does this mean? And why would he say that?

Perhaps he's not allowed to date? Or perhaps he's at that level where all he wants to do is hook upso he doesn't do it with girls from your school so as to avoid rumors.

he likes you and wants you to know(thats why he does all that stuff) but he wants the assurance you like him back before he asks you out

some guys just like to flirt, and then when it comes down to the girl really liking them, they make up some crappy excuse. i dont think he really "likes" you
