Budgies are social birds. Easily train to talk, step up and do tricks Etc. Not that noisy.

I have at least a 100 outside in a aviary. I don't hear them.

Canary females are quiet. Male are bit louder.

The best source of information I could suggest (and suggest to all new bird "parents") is a book called "Birds for Dummies." It is an excellent book written by two very knowledgible people, including an avian vet and will answer nearly every question you could have about getting and keeping a parrot (or other bird species) as a pet. You can find "Birds for Dummies" in some pet stores (PetSmart and PetCo have it I believe) as well as the major bookstores like Barnes & Noble. I have the book myself and I even still consult it from time to time to read up on avian diseases, helpful websites and other random questions.

Be careful when reading up on information on the web, including Yahoo Answers. Not all people that claim to be "experts" will have the right answers and incorrect information could easily lead to the death of your new pet bird. For that reason I highly recommend "Birds for Dummies" as well as perhaps making an appointment with an avian-certified vet who could help you make the right decision in deciding what kind of bird to get and what you'll need to properly care for it. Good luck and have fun! :)

Go on Google or Yahoo site, I prefer Google. Just send a sentence and don't worry about caps or punctuation. I would suggest saying: Looking for a pet bird that is not too noisy, or pet birds that are not too noisy. My suggestion is to ask Google about Lovebirds.

The ones that are most noisy are Zebra finches. If you get finches get the Societies. These birds are not people affectionate.

How about a parakeet? They make great pet birds with training.

Also, a Lovebirds, but some are lovable and some are not, but I would consider them first.

It depends on what size bird you want and size of cage.

I would suggest a Lovebird.

These websites will give you an overview of what is required in keeping a parrot. I think it's wonderful that you want one! Good for you! But you have to commit to this as they don't "go away" after 10 years or so. They live a long time.
Please do some reading and get involved with the information. Ask questions. Email people. We'll help you decide what species would be most suitable for you. You may want a specific species, but they may end up driving you crazy because they need too much of your time, or they don't want to hang with you...whatever the case may be.
For instance, if you want a hands-on play-pal, don't get finches. But if you don't have any time, they are perfect.
If you want a party boy, get an Amazon. If you want something a little quieter, more reserved, and yet willing to bond and needs a lot of your time, an African Grey is your speed.
It's your personality that is best looked at when it comes to what species of bird that best fits with you.
I hope I've helped you. Also, please consider adopting a parrot. I've listed some Rescue groups that can help you with this decision.
Good Luck!

Stay away from any type of conur. Most large parrots can be quite loud.African Grays are very smart & tend to be less noisy. A budgy/paraket are pretty quiet, too. Birds require a lot of attention, maintenance & the lg. parrots, a long term commitment. Many will out live you. So, choose carefully. You can always start with a small bird & add a larger one later as you learn & become more experienced in their care.

I own some birds that make little noise.

Pigeons are great pets there are many diff breeds of them, fantails, rollers, jacobins, pouters, runts ect...
These birds (Most breeds) can be let outside for a fly then will come right back home but then fantails are not very good flyers so they'll need to be kept in a cage or room.

Doves also make wounderful pets they can be very tame.

Lovebirds are also good pets (1 lovebird by its self is usualy more quiet than 2) they are easy to take care of and love to play.

Make sure you do lots of research before you purchase any birds.

Many birds are noisy so make sure you do your homework before you bring a feathered friend home!!! Our cockatiels are VERY VERY noisy. Our lovebird makes a squeaking noise that stops when we cover him at night. Our cockatoo is usually fairly quiet, but when she is angry she can SCREAM!!! Talk to several pet stores and look to see if you can find a local bird farm (both will be very informational for you).

Good Luck!!!

I have had a lot of birds, but I have found a quiet and loveable companion is a female cockatiel. They are less likely to be screamers. But, be prepared for the long haul, my Miss Sunshine is 22yrs old now, and her daughter Drea who is 13. Make sure you find a good breeder or pet store who uses a breeder that you can contact. Hand-fed is the way to go, they are easier to train. But the trick to picking one out is to let them pick you. They will bond tightly if given the chance, but they choose who they want to bond with. Females tend to bond to men, and vice versa, but my girls have bonded wonderfully to me. I was looking for a bird a bit bigger than a parakeet when I got my Sunshine, almost like a starter bird. But after all these years, I wouldn't trade them for the world. They are my best friends.

When i bought my bird i thought that bird seed, water and treats were a good diet. My bird died the vet said from malnutrition (I was crushed) even though I took good care of my bird. There are treats called "millet spray" birds go crazy over them but they have no nutritional value. After my bird passed they told me he should have eaten vitamin fortified pellets and vitamins drops in there water. (Just something all bird owners should know)

Well in your situation I'm going to make it simple. I've had parakeets, cockatiels, doves, pigeons, a Quaker parrot, and right now I have a Sun Conure. I think you should start out by purchasing a parakeet or a cockatiel. I like the cockatiels better since they are much quieter and friendly, you can even show them how to whistle its actually really cute. I wouldn't recommend a parrot since they are pretty moody and require a lot of attention. Trust me my sun conure can be loud at times, it even echoes in our house. So in the end my best advice would be a cockatiel.
