I looked it up online and it says Funcione, but I know thats not the normal way to say it because to run is correr... PLEASE HELP ME!!

You can say either of the following for "I ran" in Spanish:
"Yo corri" (with the accent on top of the "i") ("I ran")
"Yo he corrido" ("I have ran")
OR
"Yo estaba corriendo" ("I was running")
