I think that destruction will come during the tribulation during the reign of the anti-christ. There will be a 31/2 year peace period on the earth then that is when all hell will break out.

The day of the Lord, also referred to as the Rapture or Judgement, is the day on which Christ shall return and reap the harvest, then shall one angel reap the good crop and they shall be stored with the Father and be saved and another angel shall reap the poor crop and they shall be burned in the lake of fire.
It is the final day of this world.

Yes. I believe that we are in the 'growing pains' leading to the Tribulation. I don't know when Christ will return - that is up to God. It is up to us Christians to keep awake and to keep watch. (Again, we do not know the hour when Jesus will return.)
