I guess it's official that Bush is signing, because Sensenbrenner and others are calling a press conference.

Do you think it's a step in the right direction?

Tegares, I agree. That is the hardest piece to push through, but a vital piece.

Hexador, I'm pretty sure there is a time limit for the first part, and Homeland Security has to get 'operational control' of the border in 18 mos (although, what do you bet that is extended like the ever moving deadline for passports to Canada and Mexico?)

Proud, just because Thomas didn't update after the last so -called working day (Friday) of the Senate doesn't mean this didn't pass the Senate. It did. Look up 'border fence' in your browser.

Yes, this is a step in the right direction, provided they don't take forever to get moving on it! Provided this is not just more "lip service." I think the posters here who want harsh and constant crackdowns on employers are right, too. The fence and the crackdown on employers must go hand-in-hand. The fence alone, won't work. I also think ALL social services benefits need to be denied any illegal immigrant, including for their anchor babies as I think the anchor baby law/loophole is outdated and needs to be removed asap. As illegals apply for social services or try to enroll their children in our schools, they should be deported immediately. Only emergency medical care should be given and then they should be deported. ALL incentives to illegal immigrants need to be removed!

you're able to do in spite of you desire! there is not any longer something incorrect with understanding better than one language.understanding Spanish is a good ingredient,it provides you greater opportunities.Do you have a difficulty with being a sprint greater smart or some thing?there are lots of usa voters who communicate the two languages, yet desire to apply Spanish over English.basically because of the fact somebody could somewhat communicate Spanish, it does not lead them to an unlawful immigrant!i do no longer comprehend why people like your self basically see the undesirable in stuff and not the coolest. give up whining like a sprint lady and recover from it!!

Its a small expensive step in the right direction.I fully agree on the issue of stopping the employers, they must stop dangling the carrot of jobs to the illegal. They must be punished with the excising laws with no tolerance.Make them pay thru fines, seizures of property etc.Make it cost too much for cheap labor.

We need to build a concrete wall with NAtional Guard members stationed every mile equipped with AT4s, LAW rocket launchers, M240Bravos, M249SAWs, and M60s ready and loaded.

Finally, step 1. I agree with many that have already answered. The employers must be fined, and the fine must be server enough to encourage employers to verify that the employees they hire are here LEGALLY.

Yes, I do believe it is a positive step.
It may help solve the problem of them getting into the U.S.A easily, But there is still millions of illegal immigrants still in the U.S.A,

I agree with Tegeras, They need to find the buisness employers that hire illegal aliens as workers.

It's a good step but I still think they need to go after the employers. The fence wall just stems the tide but once past it they still get what they came after. They keep coming and they still have jobs waiting for them.

That's GREAT!!!! it's a start, but it will take them another 2 years to get started, and that is what Bush wants more to come here. and they will take their sweet time because Fox doesn't want it. And Bush knows he has to sign it, because he knows that is what the American people want, but they will take their sweet time until over half of the Mexican population is here.

I think most of it is a waste. Just like the drug enforcement policy works so well.

The money should be spent in more constructive ways. People won't try so hard to come here if they don't make money when they make it here. Employers are the biggest key to this equation.
