I know the Bibl has some stuff it inthat sounds silly. I know there is stuff that seems very hard to read literally, but why do people seem to think that when it comes to the Bible it is all or nothing? There are good things too, and many of the issues that people think are offensive usually are much less so when taken in context. The storeis are thousands of years old and contain many insights into the human condition as well as give what I think is a decent way to live. Not perfect, but relativly good.

I got a feeling I am gonna take a beating for this one, oh well.

You won't take a beating from me. I agree with you.

Oh, but I guess I didn't answer your question. I guess most people just like to take sides on things. It's just like politics....both sides have some really good points, but most people are totally for one side or the other rather than trying to identify the positive and negative of each side.

Belief I think is the big thing that causes much of our conflict. Many wars were started due to the interpretation of the same religion same bible but just on the interpretation (look at the middle east) but since religious issues have so much to do with opinion and belief. I will tell you a little of my opinion. I was raised in strict southern Baptist home there was no room for liberal interpretations of the bible, however, even how literal the word is taken does vary from person to person. This conservative view caused a separation in the church. No one is going to have the same conservative view. So, that's where you get the people, who are all for it. However, people who grew up like me and my liberal mum-gumbo would not fly in a church like this. Because of this I kinda find myself hating dogmatic teachings, But like you said the bible is neither entirely good or entirely bad, But you will find that people need to believe in something so strongly that they are ready to die for it, or it's not worth believing in.

Because it is either the word of God or it is not.

If it is, then it is good because everything God says or does is good. if it is not, then it is a lie, and lies are bad.
