I think it is better to study these websites, rather than asking it here. The matterial written is authentic and written by Muslim Scholars.

One more thing. Islam is the name of the religion you are trying to ask and Muslim is the word for the people who follow Islam.

Your sister is in safe hands if her bf is neither Sunni nor Shia but a Muslim, but Catholic, and Christians on the whole are haram(illegal or prohibited) for Muslim men and women, because they are infidel and unclean, but Sunni and Shia follow a warped form of Islam that tells them, falsely of course, that Christians are People of the Book.

People of the Book is how the Quran refers to Children of Israel, and Yahuudi is another name for them, and Nazaaraa is another name for the followers of Isa the Christ, son of Mariam of the Quran, which Muslims, falsely again, translate to say Christians, when the name actually implies, honestly, Helpers, or Ansaru Allah, Helpers of Allah.

Sunni and Shia force their translations of the Quran to magically produce Jews and Jesus and Christians in order to appease the gullible and to sell their warped version of Islam.

Your sister is therefore safe to a point, but when it comes to divorce she can be beheaded or become a victim of Honour Killing on suspicion of infidelity or adultery, with the Sunni or Shia, and this is not due to Quran but to Hadith.

Hadith is akin to Gospels and is hearsay that changes and challenges Quran, in blasphemy.

Your sister should question the bf and, if he is fasting at this time she should ask him about the Quran and why there is not one honest translation of the Quran among the muslims and why they fear the Quran.

You dont have to take my word. You can do like the Sunni and Shia and ignore, and maybe things will fix themselves.

The Muslim religion consists of believing in God alone as the creator of the universe. It believes in all the prophets including the last one, Muhammad (peace be upon all of them), in which was given the Quran for mankind. It believes in the Angels, Heaven, Hell, and the day of Judgement, peace, kindness and equality. There is so much more, but you can read about it in the link below.
