I have heard that you shouldn't wrap anything tomato based in foil because tomatoes are acidic and will "eat" into the foil (which will cause small pieces of the foil to flake off into the food) I think anything that's not acidic (sandwiches, cooked meats, etc) are fine.

Well, gee wiz...I've been eating stuff for years, that had been wrapped in tin foil (that's aluminium foil to those that don't know), and I'm not dead yet. So yes, it's OK...depending on what it is and how long it's been kept.

no no no your no suppose to!!!! It is very dangerous to use foil. If you place the food in a plastic bag or wrap first then you can use the foil but foil on food puts off a bad chemical that is dangerous to eat!

It really depends on the food. If the food is high in acid content (like tomatoes, lemon, lime, any thing with vinager in it) then it is unsafe. Because the acid will react with the aluminum foil. Then you'll have aluminum in your food. BAD!! YUCK!! POISON!!
But if you food isn't very acidic, then you should be fine.

I particularly have heard which you mustn't wrap something tomato based in foil because of the fact tomatoes are acidic and could "devour" into the foil (which will reason small products of the foil to flake off into the nutrients) i think of something that may no longer acidic (sandwiches, cooked meats, etc) are fantastic.

Yes absolutly. it's safer than using plastic containers to heat food in the microwave and Teflon coated skillet.
