ok heres the story. So this school year ive tried to turn my life around (more cleancut, nicer, better grades) and so far been doing ok. now, im a junior in high school, and have recently been hanging out with one of my good friends girlfriend not because i wanna date her..we are good friends, the thing is, her lil sis and friends are now at school as freshman. so im hanging out with all them too now. so things move along and on comes the first dance after a football game at the school. the game was fun (we won woot!) and again i hung out with the same people. now at the dance there were only 3 "slow" songs and at this point, one of my friends has told the group i liked one of the girls in our group. so when the first slow song came, i asked her to dance, we did. yay. so the last dance we danced as well, and i asked her to homecoming with me. she said someone already asked her but wasnt sure if she would go with that person, but would go with me if she didnt go with the other person...

also, her friend has emailed me back after i asked some questions and she said "she is already going to homecoming with someone...And why do you like her anyway? You don't even know her! lol. Sorry, she keeps telling me that she wants someone her own age."
also "Haha. It's okay. She is definitely going with someone else, he asked her yesterday. I was there. Lol. But She didn't say "I DON'T LIKE ", haha. But she made it clear that she wants to be with someone of her own age."

im so confused...should i step the girl aside and talk to her about everything and if she does say somethign close to this should I be like "you know what I respect your decision, and I know you like what you like so can we still be friends and hang out and stuff because I would hate to loose a potentially great friend such as yourself"

Yeah so thanks for all the kind words everyone. I really appreciate it and hopefully will muster the courage to pull her aside and have a chat. what if its not possible to do this face-to-face, can i do it over instant messaging? or is that too weird?

I hated the kids around me at that age... Everyone lied to manipulate everyone elses situation to their advantage... >_>

What you need to do is talk to her (the chick you like) alone. Her friend doesn't sound the least bit reliable when it comes to truthful information.

Besides.. what can it hurt to talk with her alone? Just be really sure not to bring up the fact that you think her friend is full of sh!t.

EDIT: I didn't think of this at the time, but "jenluvs2surf" may be right... She could be telling you that just so you would stop focusing on and focus on her.

You're right on the money. You have to respect her decision. It could be she doesn't want to loose your friendship. You are bright, articulate and seem to have a great personality. So don't worry, keep her as a friend and then you can look for someone a little older. You'll do great, but respect her feelings. Good luck.

Wow - That's a really mature decision, to be so reasonable. Good luck, hope she sees the light.
