I found a huge quanitity of mold in one of those instant microwaveable rice packets. Thankfully, I caught it before I put it in the microwave, but I'm curious as to what would have happened if I had microwaved it.

Holy cow. Was it supposed to be expired? Thank God you saw it first. Yuck. I bet you wouldnt have noticed it after it was all cooked unless it was just plain rice.

I think you still would have gotten sick.

I would have given my microwave a good cleaning to avoid spreading of harmful stuff, just in case. The steam could have spread through out the microwave and gone to places you wouldn't notice.

Ummm.... Don't eat it. Even if you cook it, it will still make you very, very, very sick, and you will have a serious mold infection which will be very difficult to get rid of since antibiotics don't really work against molds.

i assume the toxins would become airborne... i don't know what harm they would do... but often time mould spores can be fairly dangerous if inhaled... so i assume the outcome wouldn't be good... so i would try to avoid it as much as possible...
