most questions are answered in this manner:

q:blah blah blah
a: because the bible says so

why do people give answers if they aren't going to think about them and try and give some practical advice instead of a mindless answer like "because the bible says so"

Because it is easy to follow the crowd and much harder to actually stand for something. Most organized religion preaches that thiers is the right and only way, removes free thinkers and free will.

If you ask a question about God or the Bible then expect a bible based answer. If you learn some thing for the pot-head down the street and I ask you a question and you answered his answer, because you believe it to be the truth, are you brainwashed? If you learn something in school, are you brainwashed? If science teaches you evolution, are you brainwashed? If you learn from your mother to not swear, are you brainwshed? If you learn how to drive from your father, are you brainwashed? Everyone says "think for your self", but everything we know, we learned from someone else. Not to be rude, but not alot of people have come up with new ideas, they just build on someones elses, and I honestly don't think you are anywhere close to having Albert Einstein's I.Q. By the way Einstein believed in God as in a creater of the universe.

Actually, I have seen a lot of logical thinking and research presented by theists as well as atheists here. Perhaps you simply haven't seen some of the "better" questions.

Unfortunately, the majority of the questions posted here DON'T appear to be serious. They seem to be posted by athiests playing "mock the theists", and come across as crass garbage. Different people have different ways of addressing crass garbage. It's a pity such things can't be blocked!

It appears that you don't really want an answer to your question. You have a preconceived notion about people of faith. No matter what we say in response to your question, you will say the same thing. However, if you'd really like to engage us. Ask a real question and we'd be happy to answer you. Blah, blah, blah is hardly a question. And I've yet to see an answer here that says, "because the Bible says so." God bless!

because absolute truth and authority have to come from somewhere, and that somewhere is God and the evidence/proof and commandments are found in the Bible. You are asking people to run around in circles, but eventually it will come back to the Bible. What I hear you saying is that you think people are being lazy - that's probably true. But maybe they are short on time. I don't know. who knows. Discovering truth foryourself is the best thing to do.

Probably because people who have a fundamentalist view of religion are answering the question.

Pretty obvious -- if they actually *thought* about them, they wouldn't be religious! They'd realize quickly that belief in any religion is intellectually indefensible.

Anyone who starts with a pre-defined dogma, then tries to make the world fit into that system, is doomed to failure unless they are willing to put logic and intellect aside and twist the truth to a considerable degree. At that point, their only fallback position is to appeal to the source of their dogma...so they do.

This of it like this, if you saw a large group of people in a dark room wandering around and you knew where the light switch was but couldn't get anyone to listen to you, this is how a christian feels also picture that as your trying to tell the people the truth, they call you names and say your brainwashed that there is no light switch.. how would you feel?

because the bible says so..... sorry couldn't resist. Those people are probably the Christians that either have not studied much on the topic or just aren't sure why so they put that.
