I used to get migraines so severe I would throw up from the pain, making the ripe splitting melon of my head feel even worse.

If I took a hot bath (as hot as I could stand it without passing out) and laid back in the bath, pillowing my head in my arms to keep my nose above water, the pain would ease very quickly. I sometimes even relaxed enough to go to sleep, and would wake up when the water cooled.

If I could not take a bath for whatever reason, a hot water bottle on my head (over my left eye which was ALWAYS the focus point) would help me relax enough to go to sleep.

When I woke, I would take a pain killer with muscle relaxant, and the pain would be completely gone within an hour, and not usually come back.

Nothing works for me. My Dr. and I tried everything he could think of. Finally, we just resolved that when I start getting the symptoms (blind spots, numbness, zigzags) that I take an anti-nausea (because I'll vomit) and then something that completely knocks me out for about 4 hours. Usually when I wake up the worst is over. I also take melatonin each night before bedtime, that has seemed to make my migraines come much less frequently...it has something to do with normal sleep patterns and circadian rhythms.

The best long term cure for migraines, other than meds, is meditation, assuming you don't have a medical condition as the cause. If it is self inflicted, meditation can reduce, and even end, the conflict in your mind.

It depends what your migraines are caused from, But I used to get them all the time especially at work. I worked in the ER. and a PA told me that headaches a lot of the times are caused by dehydration. so try drinking 32oz of water. it worked. it doesn't always work but it works a lot for me. its worth a try Plus maybe your tense and don't realize it try some relaxation techniques. I also get them because when I'm stressed or thinking, or don't even realize that your stressed. I tent to clench my teeth which causes a headache.
Good luck

The only thing that really works for me, is a dark room, no noise. And a wet cloth on my head.
