I lost my son in a car accident recently. I have read all the reports and find discrepancies. I just need to know how many hours ones body stays warm to touch following death.

The body stays warm for a few hours, with the arms and legs getting cooler first. The arms and legs get cool to the touch within 1/2 hour or less, and gradually moves upwards. The core of the body(bodice and such) takes longer to cool as there is more blood supply, so, I would say about 2-3 hours. Rigors starts to set in in about an hour. I am sorry for your loss :(

First, as a mother of two sons, let me tell you my heart is with you right now. My youngest was hit by a drunk driver last year and his knee was crushed.
The police reports are long, with many discrepancies. I read ours over and over to try and make sense of them. The drunk in our case died. I know when there is a death, an autopsy is required.
I don't know the correct answer to your question, but I hope you find an answer. I was wondering why it would make a difference how long it was warm to the touch. The autopsy would tell you the approximate time of death. You would be able to get a copy of it.

usually 3 hours, but there are some part of the body that stay warm even after 20 hours as I witness it myself and so have others. This is from the Buddhist text that states that wherever the consciousness leave the body that part of the body stay warmer for longer period of time. I m a first hand witness and can testify that it s true. The 6 location to inspect are the feet, knee, stomach, chest, face and top of the head.

The answer to this question depends on information that you didn't give us. Here are some factors that need to be considered: How much clothing did he have on when he died, what was the temperature outside, was alcohol involved...this actually lowers body temperature believe it or not. His weight, and build have a lot to do with it too. So it's hard to say.

it depends on the surrounding environment but rigor mortis sets in after 30 mins and slowly temperature goes down after that and is fully complete after 24 hours.
