I grew up in the Boston area, spent over 20 years there. Then I moved to Chicago, and lived there for 7 years. Although, I have a lot of special/good memories in Boston and I almost feel like a traitor for saying this, but Chicago is better. I love the Magnificent Mile, lots of shopping. Navy Pier is great too and the new Millennium Park is (wicked) cool. It will be cold in either city, but I do think winter in Chicago may be a bit colder. Also, Christmas in Chicago is beautiful, there will be lots of decorations downtown and in the wintertime you can get incredible hotel deals. Oh, and I usually flew via American Airlines when I traveled in/out of O'Hare, sometimes I got a cheap fare from United though, and you can always fly into Midway too. If you end up searching for fares to Boston, I would search for fares to Logan but if you're going to rent a car I would look into flying into Providence's airport too (about an hour drive to Boston).

I lived in Boston and visited Chicago. Both places is great to visit but consider this, how do you like the cold and the snow? We don't get much snow around Christmas in Boston if you want to see the sights. Don't know about Chicago weather. Either way, have fun!

I would say Chicago, my wife is from Chicago and there is a lot to do while you're there. Especially if you like to shop. You can go to the down town area and shop til you drop. You can also go to the Sears Tower and see how high the one of the highest building in the US. The only thing is the parking is pretty expensive so you might want to catch a cab or the train. But it's beautiful around Christmas there. The lights and the snow is a good mixture of beauty. Also I'm not sure where you're from but I'll assume that it might be cheaper to fly to Chicago, because there's all ways special to Chicago. so try to go to cheap ticket.com or to orbitz and see which one is cheaper.

it depends, if you like historical places id go with boston. If you like big up-to-date places chicago. i no that chicago has some older places too but thats pretty much it. you might want to look on the internet and plan ahead. the faster you bye them the lower they'll be. id also suggest leaving about 1 1/2 weeks so you miss all the holiday traffic.

Go to Boston!!! It's sooo cool. They got the best food and everything! They have tours of the bay and its gorgeous. They have the best Italian resturants. Oh, and the cheapest airline is Air Train. It doesn't have must entertainment it's decent.
