I have friends that believe in predestination, but they still do their own free will.

Free will. If there is predestination life is not worth living. Free will does not mean that you are immune from freek accidents or the consequences of your or other peoples choices.
Free will and predestination are mutually exclusive concepts and are binary, you either have free will or not. There is no middle ground here. Why?
If God allows us free will, then he is not omnipotent.
Yes if God knows what will happen to us then indeed he caused the choice as he himself stated:
The LORD has made everything for his own purposes, even the wicked for punishment. - Proverbs 16:4
A is A folks, A is not B.

I'm Christian. There is no "vs." between pre-destination and free will. God knows the out come of every thing. What you will choose, what you will do, how, where, and what.(pre-destination) But you are free to choose, what you will do, how, where, and what.(free will) Just because God knows everything that was and will be done, that does not mean that we are not free to do anything, He just knows what we will do.

God brought about His will and purposes in Pharaoh to show us that we make choices but they are always what He has already determined them to be. God had already foretold these events to Abraham hundreds of years earlier just what would happen. Then when He was to send them into exile He not only tole them just how long but also who would take them and even named the name of the King who would send them back to their land (before he was even born!)

I don't believe there is a difference except for people who want to mix words. Just because God knows what we will choose does not mean he forced us to choose it. We have agency. Because he knows us so well some of us have been chosen before the world was to searve in some capacity here on earth. We choose to do so, God does not choose for us. That does not mean he does not know what we will choose.

we have a predestined path that God gave us. But it is our own free will if we are to follow it or not.

neither one, but a strange mixture of both. there is no such thing as 'free' will, cause everybody knows that nothing in life is free.
