I do this all the time !
I either just show up at my friends job site and surprise them or I make a scavenger hunt for them to find a surprise at the end.
Either way, I love giving to my friends... even if its just a plate of cookies fresh from the oven.

I think just the act of giving someone a suprise gift should be a good enough gesture. Many people don't do that nowadays and they will be pleasantly suprised.

Pack a picnic lunch with goodies, bottle of wine and the gift. When my husband and I were courting, we had a picnic in front of his fire place. You could do something like this. Best wishes!

I do these things for my husband:
leave things in his truck before he leaves for work.
leave notes/clues in the house (when I'm not there) like a little treasure hunt, with the suprise waiting at the end, like in the closet or something.
leave a little something in their lunchbox or briefcase (I leave my kids stuff in their lunch boxes sometimes at school)

HAVE SOMEONE DRESS UP AS A BEAR OR SOMETHING IN A COSTUME AND ARRIVE IN THE BED WHILE THAT PERSON IS SLEEPING WAKE THEM UP AND FREAK THEM OUT LOL THEN GIVE THEM THE GIFT
