Hi there, I have had my tongue pierced for over 6 yrs now. The reason as if you feel its alil too short is normal. It will be swollen for a week or so. The best thing for that is ice suck on plenty of ice. Also make sure you are still washing ur mouth with some type of anti-bacterial mouth wash each time you eat something. Germs can be really risky right now with it still being so new.

It has nothing to do with orientation, true some do it for giving another girl pleasure like guys do, but i know alot of straight girls with tongue piercings...a piercing or tattoo cannot show if someone is gay or not.

When my ex got his tongue pierced I can tell you that all of this sounds normal.

You can let chamomile tea ice cubes melt in your mouth to help with the swelling. Chamomile is a natural anti-inflammatory plus with the ice being so cold that helps too. Try not to suck too much, it's not good for the healing.

The swelling should go down very soon.

the swelling is normal as is everything else you mentioned. there is no way for me to know the length they used, but at my shop we use 3/4 to accommodate the swelling. 2-3 months from now you may want to change to something shorter, like a 1/2 inch, with small beads as this is usually more comfortable as permanent jewelry. just remember to use listerine after you eat or smoke and you will be fine. dont try to use anything else, like peroxide or bactine, as these are too strong and will prolong the healing process.
and dont listen to the people on this site that will give you bad advice, i am a professional.

I got a 14 gauge as well, but mine did not disappear into my tongue. That's not good. Either it's too short, or the swelling is terrible. I'm guessing too short.

If I were you, I would take it out.

You might want to take down the inflammation by taking some Ibuprofen.
