For about a week or so I've been having these weird sleeping habits where I'll sleep around 10:30~11:30 and set my alarm to five but then instead I randomly wake up at 2:30, 3:30, and 4:30 every night thinking I slept through my alarm and that the time is actually 5 or 6 only to jump right back into bed again. Whats wrong?

I wake up at 2:30 or 3:00 am, but it is usually due to low blood sugar. Try having a small snack before bedtime. Make sure it has about 1 oz (28 grams) of protein and not too much carbohydrate. If you have almonds or peanuts, a small handful goes along well with this. Then wash it down with water and go to bed.

If that works, you may want to visit www.hufa.org for info on low blood sugar.

It may be stress related. Is there something that has been causing you worry lately? If you are 40 plus (or even late 30's) it could be a perimenopause symptom. Premenopause often causes sleep problems. Check with your doctor if your sleeping doesn't improve soon. Good luck.

Sometimes if this happens 2-3 nights in a row--you body seems to set itself in this pattern. My opinion--I would take a couple of tylenol or tylenol pm at bedtime for a couple of nights. See if this will break the cycle. (I know tylenol is for pain--but I will use it at bedtime on occasion and it will be just enough to help me sleep better. Tylenol pm is good also--the tylenol has some benedryl in it--makes it a little stronger than plain tylenol) Good Luck.
