if you are unemployed apply at the local job-centre for re-training, they will pay all your expenses if their is a real chance of you getting work at the end of it, alternatively join the army logistics corp, where you can all your r.t.i.t.b. licences free, ie HGV, forklift, hazchem etc. and whats more they'll pay you to train, cant be bad eh?

Start calling smaller manufacturing companies offering shipping & receiving positions available. Many smaller company owners will train you to operate their forklift, & allow you to start. Because you're not an experienced certified forklift operator yet, they'll save money in wages. This is one way to get free training for yourself. Eventually, you'll have enough experience through a smaller company, to obtain your certified Forklift Operators license. You'll have to find a school closest to you, to take the operators test. You can also try calling the closest trucking & shipping Freight companies near you. Speak to someone about forklift driving positions available with them. You might get lucky enough to find a company that will train you, while you get paid to work. Hope this helps you. Good luck!
