The marketing idea in this case is that sugar is bad. This claim plays on that idea, therefore 25% less is better. Some products claim the reverse. "Jolt" soda claimed twice the caffein and twice the sugar, for people who needed an extra boost. Their target market was different. I have even seen coffee that promoted itself with "twice the caffiene". It all depends on what your marketing position is.

But... Not necessarily, maybe they're new and just haven't taken over yet. ;) Or maybe the leading brand is cheaper and lower quality or something.

well, popular doesn't always mean the best...so maybe they're calling themselves the quality since they're healthier
