The immigrants who arrived in the United States in the beginning were LEGAL immigrants and they didn't want to live off a Welfare system or trash the land. The new wave of immigrants from Mexico are here ILLEGALLY. Many of them are wanted by the law in Mexico. Much of which are criminals, rapists, murderers and thieves. Here in my state 95% of sex offenders are illegal immigrants. Some of the Mexican people want to work here then take the money back to Mexico. The majority are paid cash and do not pay certain required taxes.
For some reason even tho they are here illegally our government is giving them handouts. Then when legal citizens want assistance we have to beg. For some reason the illegal Mexican people are getting Cable TV at a discount but American's can not get the discount. Also I learned auto insurance companies provide the illegal Mexican's with lower rates. They take and take and trash our rental homes, dump their trash in rivers and lakes and along the roadsides. Plus they will throw trash right in their own yards. They want to make America into one big dump just like Mexico. Plus they want to take over our country and the stupid government is allowing it to happen. Until you live next door to an illegal Mexican you have NO idea. A 2 bedroom house will have at least 10 to 20 illegal Mexicans living there. 5 to 8 vehicles. None of them have jobs. People in and out of the house at all hours. Extremely loud booming Tiajuana Brass music playing, fighting, yelling, and drinking.

The problem today is the fact that there are too many immigrants who are coming here to escape their own country and its issues, yet are choosing to do so illegally. Why is the question "Why do 'American' people hate immigrants"? Because the US is the country being bombarded with illegals at an alarming rate.
If they were to come to Ellis Island, fill out the paperwork, have a sponsor, go to work legally, learn the language, and pay taxes, then they would be more than welcome. It has been that way for years and has worked out just fine. Unfortunately, the men and women of Mexico have decided that they are entitled to be in America, without the work involved to be here legally.

I understand your question but bare in mind that "Americans" include South Americans and North Americans. If you are speaking of folks in the USA ... then most of the answers above are correct.

We do not have a problem with immigrants who are here legally! However, the illegals are stealing from our system of government and should (IMHO) be returned to their home country. We US citizens have enough difficulties with the rest of the world without putting up with this insane maddness.

If you truely want to become a citizen of the USA, do it properly!

We don't hate. Emmigrants have been since the beginning of this Great country. We all need to be legal. And we don't hate the poor illegal emmigrants from Mexico. Poor things, try putting your feet into their tierd worn out, sandy , shoes. I feel sorry for the many who come here and want to be Americans and then be told to leave and come back legal. But they can not be mad at us. We only want law and order in the United States and being illegal is breaking the law. My family were emmigrants, but before they planned their trip by ship over here, they had to get permission to leave Norway and then be allowed to enter onto American soil. This is called Legal. If only you all could do this. We don't hate you.

I have been "informed" that the people of the USA are not "Americans". We are "United Statesians" (sure.) So when you speak of Americans, you are speaking of people from S. America, N. America and Mexico. So if "American" people hate immigrants, that means S. American, N. American and Mexican People HATE immigrants.

The CITIZENS of the USA don't hate immigrants, they despise ILLEGAL immigrants from any country coming to our country and disrespecting our laws and demanding rights they don't have. The USA "IS" a melting pot. We have people from every country in the world living here and they are LEGAL citizens. Many are actually 'HISPANIC', some are "LATINO"! Whatch' think about that? Did you know that many of those Hispanic/Latino legal citizens are AGAINST illegal immigration, too? Why do "Americans" from So. America and Mexico hate AMERICANS from the USA? Is it because we don't let illegal people continue crap on us? Is it because we stand our ground, demand our laws be enforced, and don't 'run to another country' with our hands out when things look bad? Is it because we have guts, determination, intelligence, ingenuity and strong wills? I think so!!

the immigrants that immigrated here, payed to come. even if they had to pay for a ticket in the ship they came on. they helped make this country. then the Constitution of the united states was made. that made them Americans. now we still have to pay to become legal immigrants. i understand it's a lot of money for some one who don't have it. but we have are laws. but the way the illegals live together, and yes they do. they should be able to save this money up, and pay to get the paper work started.

As an American I do not hate immigrants....just illegal ones that are paid low wages & take a job away from an American who needs it just as badly..Is that hard to understand for some?If they are willing to take money from America then become American & be willing to support this country with pride..

We all came from immigrant blood. Some us newer than others. I am not lawyer but know this part of the laws well. There used to be no asians allowed only for work no wives, etc, then they changed that. The world whines how bad we are lately yet but still come in the millions to us yearly.

The mexicans have pushed the limits. they are not willing to do what the others have. They come to much to fast.

They have been evading laws.
