Nice to see you here. Nice to see that the Soviet Union is no more. Nice to see open communications between old enemies. Welcome. Let's face it, Pavel 25, years ago we would have been inclined to kill each other over political ideology. Glad those day are over.

I don't know too much first hand, about Russian people.
I produced and directed Chekov's "The Cherry Orchid" in college.
My ex-husband was Russian-his father and all his father's family were Russian.
I remember the "Cold War" when I was very young.
I loved Dostovesky's books.
My favorite actor was Yul Brynner.
I liked the Pavel Chekov character on Star Trek.
I think the Russian people are strong people and survivors.
I have always been fascinated by what I have seen in documentaries and read about Cossacks.

Thanks for asking a question here.

Karen

I love the Russian culture, though I'm not a fan of Cyrillic. :-)

Ivan Shishkin is my favorite painter, and I've studied countless paintings from all over the world. I love to visit Fort Ross (Fort Rossija), near my home in northern California...I'm fascinated by Russian wood architecture.

I wish Russia & America could be permanent friends, but since we have a nut in the White House, I'm worried that the US government will push Russia away further.

I've met a number of Russians over the years; very nice people. Mikhail Chemiakin is my favorite contemporary painter.

I'd love to visit Russia some day.

Welcome, Paul! Russia is a nation with a rich heritage, language and many contributions to the world. I am fortunate to live with a very large Russian/Eastern European community--and I am absolutely amazed by the well educated, hard working people that I have met.

Russia is a great country but I feel it's turning into the Soviet Union
version 2.0 with the things Putin is doing with Iran and Venezuela and other places.

I'm Scottish and I'm proud to say I have lots of personal friends from many, many countries across the world. Just as you have good and bad Scotsmen I'm sure you have good and bad Russians. My only criteria for friends is that they must be nice people.
