I am also pregnant going with an Italian theme. Allegra sounds like the allergy medicine....no offense Carolina is pretty, but I also like Gianna..just a suggestion...hope you find the perfect name I know how challenging it is.

Bellanca, it means stronghold. I love it but my husband wants a Mina or Morgan. The problem of Carolina, though beautiful is everyone will pronounce it wrong, it gets tiring correcting people. I really like Allegra too, seems like every time you pick a unique nice name a whole bunch of other kids get it too.

I love the names you picked especially Allegra. I have a dear friend who is Italian and her name is Pia. Another is name Pasqulina and yet another is named Serafina can't get much more Italian than those names. Whatever you do don't name your child Marie that is my name and also about 5 different friends of mine share the same name.

If you name her Carolina, you KNOW everyone's going to pronounce it like the states (long "i" sound) and they'll butcher it. Allegra is an allergy medicine. I would definitely skip that one.

How about Sofia, Flora, or Gianna? If you have it narrowed down to the two you mentioned and you're definitely set on one of them, I'd go with Carolina. I'd rather grow up with someone pronouncing my name incorrectly than to know I shared my name with an allergy medicine! :)

Carolina Izabella...very Italian sounding and very pretty!

May I suggest one thing?...If you want people to pronounce it the way you do them you need to spell it like it sounds. I love the name, but you will have to spend the rest of your little Carolina's life correcting people on how to say her name. Good luck and congrats!

Allegra because of the way Italians use their "A" sound at the beginning of words. Sounds so pretty.
