I know that there are SOME good religious folks, but the majority of the answers on her from religious people is cruel, and completely uncalled for!

STEPHEN J;
The reason why they are being removed is becuase the origin of species is Christian based, and there are many different religions here in America. Not to mention that the US is NOT a christian society. The foundation of US is freedom of speech, religion, and all that mess. So please, do not pull that "law" thing one me.

I am sorry, yes, there seem to be many people here on the net who only pretend to be chistians but dont show the spirit of love and compassion, like they should.

But please understand also, a true christian believer will worry for everybody who consciously denies the Lord and therefore has no chance to enter heaven.

God gave us all free will and a choice, and he only reveiled enough about himself on earth to give believers and atheists enough to think about and to really make our life a decision of faith

if you only live your life by using your intellect and rationalising everything, you will never be really happy, because you cannot control everything, emotions and spiritual welfare are beyond your control and thats what makes you happy, not material worldy things

god bless you and may be we can get you thinking and asking questions

I used to be an atheist, but now I am a Muslim. I think being an atheist is better than just following a religion someone got by birth. I mean, faith is not something sticky. You have to believe something from your heart.

There are a number of people who think atheicism is a lack of believe. I say, in fact, this is a religion. You believe "There is no God". I did the same. The only good thing was that I even gave small percentage to the chance that "There Can Be A God or gods". Any ways, I kept studying different relgions time to time. And finally I accepted Islam as one and only True Religion.

This is upto you. Whatever you like or believe. No religion can be imposed on someone. Faith comes from somewhere in between mind and heart. The only thing I recommend you and everyone is to study, as one day, you might find that you were Wrong.

This question is based on the wrong generalization that people of faith (like Christians), hate Atheists. Maybe some do, but most dont hate Atheists.

Real Christians follow the teachings of Christ which first and foremost says that we should love others just like ourselves. He even mentioned -"Love your enemies". The problem is that we have "nominal' Christians, maybe they were born in a family that is Christian, they claim to be Christians but they dont follow the precepts of Christ.

You mentioned - "Our beliefs do not effect (i think you mean "affect") you. Another wrong conclusion. Of course your beliefs affect us all. If all the people on earth were faithful Christians- we dont have to be fed the "hogwash" that we evolved from one celled animals over eons of time. Like saying that an unabridged dictionary came from a printing press that exploded and the prints and letters alpabetized and all-just came by chance.

Also, where do you get the idea that 90% of America is religious?
Have you seen the empty pews in churches while a sports stadiums that can seat 0ver 30,000 people are almost full?

I have definately seen a lot of hatred for this to be called a religion and spirituality forum. All people have a right to believe what they wish and not be harrassed for it. No one should be made to feel that they or their religion is any less real than any others because when it all gets down to brass tacks, there is no one on earth who is perfect in the eyes of the Lord. All are sinners, regardless because we are human. When Jesus decides to step down and let someone else become their brother's judge, I will be last in line
because I do not think I would be able to drink from the same cup. And until the time one of us decides to do it and succeed, all of us need practice a little more tolerance.

I don't hate you. I don't hate anyone. The thing that bothers me about Atheist is, some of the question that they post on here about God and Jesus. Not your every day just wondering questions, but mean, rude and sexual. I don't understand why any one would want to do that. It's Ok if you don't believe in God, and OK to ask questions. Christians ask Atheist questions all the time. Your right, your belief doesn't effect me as mine doesn't effect you. I think EVERYONE should show a little respect for ones own belief.

I don't hate atheists and have never been hostile to one that I'm aware. I must say, however, this question is asked probably 3 to 5 times daily and that is pretty frustrating in itself. There is also the "Why do people hate Christians?" questions asked just about as much. Why must this question be continually asked? It only causes more dissension between the different beliefs and only serves to get people "stirred up". I really believe these questions divide us more than help.

I don't hate atheists. I just don't believe them is all. Even when I was at the height of my rebellion against God I knew that when they said God didn't exist that it wasn't true.

Someone asked a similar question the other day. They were asking why atheists get abused and discriminated against and said they had personally experienced being abused for being an athiest. Here is a copy and paste of what I answered there:

There is no justification for abuse. That you've been verbally abused is not acceptable. That anyone has been abused is not acceptable. I'm sorry that happened to you. I truly am. On behalf of all who call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I sincerely apologize.

Christian is a name that's thrown around lightly these days. Jesus said you will know them by their fruit. A good tree does not produce bad fruit. Verbal abuse - or any kind of abuse - is not good fruit.

A true experience of conversion occurs because a person has, first and foremost, seen that their sins are exceedingly sinful in light of such a holy God. And when they've experienced His mercy of pardon - and I mean truly experienced it - it's not easily forgotten. Someone will do something that makes the person mad or upset and just about the time they go to start planning their revenge out of habit, that mercy grabs hold of the heart. And they remember how high the sins and offences against God were stacked against them, and they remember how God had mercy on them and forgave them - for all of it! Suddenly that other person's sin against them doesn't look so bad. And it's easy to just let whatever it is they did go instead of making them pay. It's easy to forgive for Jesus' sake.

I believe it's safe to say that most of the people who are hostile against Athiests aren't sure of where they stand with God. They're more for God than against Him, they're just not sure if He's for them or against them yet. Before I knew Jesus I had a boyfriend who used to say he didn't believe in God. I used to get livid when he'd say that! Oh, I'd go off! And I'd ask him things like, 'Then what do you think happens when we die?' And he'd give some lame answer about just returning to the ground and becoming part of the dirt. And I'd think, 'What a hopeless situation if life begins and ends with just YOU!'

And see? That's just the thing. People need hope. Life seems pretty pointless without it. And to have someone say there is no God just goes against whatever hope they have in their hearts. They're still wondering, "Is there really a God, and if so does He know I exist? Does He care?" These are the questions that plague us until we know Him and come to know where we stand with Him.

There's just something in us that knows there's more than just "me, myself, and I - oh, and you." There just is.

And so when someone comes along and says there is no God, well, no God = no hope. You shatter or destroy their hope or attempt to shatter or destroy it then that's when feelings and thoughts of revenge start welling up. To kill or attempt to kill hope feels the same as to kill or attempt to kill a person's best friend or their child or parent or something. And when somebody kills somebody, the person who killed has gotta pay. It's woven into the human fabric.

I'm one of those "religious folks" and I do not hate atheists. The hostility is uncalled for... and unacceptable in my opinion. Christians should be showing the world that they're about spreading God's word and helping people, instead of condemning others.
Of course we all have a right to believe what we want to believe... just make sure what you believe is right ;)
No, your beliefs do not directly affect us. But we're still concerned. To me, we're all God's children. We're brothers and sisters in Christ and I think we should be helping one another.

P.S. You may not believe in God, but He believes in you.

I guess it depends on who you're talking about really. As a christian I do not hate atheists. I believe in what I believe in what I believe in and what I do believe in is to love everyone. So if I were to hate anyone including atheists then I would be contradicting my own belief. Huh, makes you think. All I can do is pray that God would reveal himself to all, but not push on people but share what I know to be true and leave it up to God after that. Thanks for posting this question. Hopefully you can see where I'm coming.

I do not hate the atheists. Realize that a christian's battle is not against any person but the enemy that lies to them and keeps them from knowing the truth. I think what your seeing is fustration from people rather than hate. example: If you knew a group of people who were wandering aimlessly in the darkness and you were trying to show them were the lightswitch was and they don't believe you nor do they want to know....it can be fustrating
