I met this guy online, he lives about an 8 hour drive. I'm going to meet him for the first time in a few weeks. I wouldn't have a problem moving to his city if I really believed he was the ONE, but is it possible to figure out if he's the ONE when he lives so far away? How long should I wait before discussing a move?

I met my guy on-line. Actually we met here on answers. We IM back and forth for a week or so, then started calling each other. After about 2 weeks we met at a state park half way between us. He lived about 300 miles from me. We spent the day together and then parted. I knew from the moment I saw him that he was the one man on Earth for me. He knew on the way back home that I was the one woman on Earth for him. Two weeks later he gave up his job and his home to move here with me. We are incredibly happy. I should mention that we are both in our 50s and have both been married before. We just knew that we were soul mates when we met.

Some long distance work out and some dont. Currently I am in a long distance.. about 3,000 miles away. It can work if u both are sincere. I would wait awhile and see each other on weekend or whenever u can and each of u make the drive dont just be one going back and forth. You should learn about a person and get to know them emotionally rather than physically.. its the best way to know if the person is right for u or not. I have known my guy for 7 years .. he had his life i had mine.. we emailed each other for 6 years and currently met each other november 2005.. and everything was wonderful.. we talk on the phone each day and night and we have a wonderful time when we get to see each other. u learn to appreciate what u have rather than when u have it all the time a person seems to forget the real reason u r together. If he is willing and u r willing it will work. You have to have alot of trust, honestly and faithfulness to each other. :) take care and hope all works out.

let me tell you i think you should get to know him very well and wait before moving to his city i mean i met this guy online and right now we have been together for about two months and he only lives two hours away but we have only seen each other twice and i'm always the one who has to go to him. I'm thinking about leaving him because the distance thing is just not working out for me and it's just really hard not to have the one you love next to you to hold and be there with you in the good and bad times ya know. Well all i can say is good luck and just think before you do anything.

I'm not a fan of long distance relationships, plus you need to ask yourself why would a guy be willing to date someone who lives 8 hrs, away that would spook me,i dont trust on-line dating because you just dont know what your getting into plus theres usually a reason why people choose on-line dating and most aren't good.be careful.

eight hours, met online...it should be a long long time before you think about moving your whole life for someone.
