I'm curious. During the 70's and 80's it was quite a regular sight to see young men- always young, white American men- and always in pairs. They would be VERY conservatively dressed, with "clean cut" haircuts. They used to go from door to door, seeking to convert people to Mormonism. I belive they termed it "missionary work".

What happened, do these Mormon missionaries still come to the UK? ...I remember once that one of them told me they believed Jesus of Nazareth had visited South America, which was stretching my credulity a bit.

The 'Elders', or missionaries still come to the U.K. What they told you is true, the full account can be read in the Book of Mormon, another Testament of Jesus Christ.
If you desire to visit with them and have them share more of the gospel with you, visit the link below. They serve in specific mission areas out of a central location, and may be somewhere close! The account of Christ's visit is awesome, I hope you can learn more of it :)

It' already been answered that they're still around. In fact there are always more and more. Last I heard there were well more then 50,000 missionaries world wide. Maybe, in the UK, they don't go door-to-door as much anymore. I think over all they've changed and possibly realized that going door-to-door isn't as effective as others means of contact.

Couple quick things, this church is still growing by leaps and bounds. And if this church is so bad, then why do people still join? Surely, even if you don't believe in the church has, It's not doing anything bad.

Do you miss'em? There are millions of them in Utah. Even in Cincinnati I've met them.
I admit I have no idea why you can't see them in UK anymore. My guess is airplane tickets are too expensive compared to how many British have converted. You have this thing called common sense... Good for you!
You might like to know, though, that the Mormon missionaries that approached me in Cincinnati were matching your description, but a couple of years ago I met two Mormon missionary young girls, dressed in long black dresses, who spoke a fairly good Romanian with a strong American accent!

It is North America that Jesus visited. There are two temples in England, the Preston Temple and the London Temple. I am not LDS, so I do not know why they don't visit the UK. I just know a lot of their beliefs. My boss and many friends are Mormon.

People in Europe have more sense than to waste time on the juvenile fantasies of the Morons.
The religion should have died out after the deaths of Brigham Yooung and Joseph Smith as it was invented purely for their benefit - many wives, lots of sex and plenty of money and land extorted from the faithful.

They seem to be less and less as the years go by.

I think the Mormon religion may be dying out because the general consensus is it is whack!!

I hope so anyway.

Any religion that believes that women are only allowed in heaven if their husband calls them up there, is not a religion of God!

God Bless You!

We've still got 'em. Our area's pair actually got a glowing write-up in the church column of the local paper a couple of months back.

The reason is the same as in South America. It only has political pull in the USA. The rest of the countries don't talerate the cult.
