Actually, no. People who are diagnosed professionally as being 'psychopaths' do not have a conscience. It is some part of the brain which functions fine in others and does not function at all with psychopaths. Scary people.

No. Not everyone, and I would speculate that a good many are lacking today in a clear conscience.
Allow me to give you a brief description of myself.
Never once in my life have I did a terrible deed for a fellow human being.
Never once in my life has any of my actions caused pain and suffering to another.
Never once has my carelessness resulted in other people's death.
If I don't have a clear conscience, then I don't know what it is.
A clear conscience comes from taking all the needed precautions before doing something.
When I get into my automobile, I am completely focused on what is happening on the road. I eliminate all distractions.
What I see more of on the road is people lacking in conscience and driving as if they could care less if I were killed by their action.
There used to be courtesy on the open road. Driving was a friendly experience. Sometimes it was even fun.
Today, all I see is monstrous vehicles and being driven by maniacs who seem to be in a life or death hurry all the time.
Usually, death is a result of their unconscience actions.
Now, to prove my point, you must understand that we have leaders who don't show much concern for human life.
Bush is in charge of the military, and under his watch, some 2750 have perished, while some 22000 are injured for life.
That's quite a heavy burden to carry, and better he carry that burden than me. I wouldn't be able to sleep nights if I carried that load. His wife has had a careless driving experience that resulted in a fellow high school student to lose his life. So, she keeps this permanent false smile on, but inside, there must be something churning. Again, I don't carry this baggage.
This is what a conscience is all about.
When people go to sleep at night, and they are about to shut their eyes not knowing if they will awaken to see another day, can they say in all honestly that they did right by their fellow man.
I believe many couldn't, especially in these chaotic times we are living through.
This answerer can say that in all honesty, I have always tried to uplift my fellow human being (whether that be a co-worker, neighbor, relative, friend or even a stranger).
Again, not many can boast as much.
It is with a clear conscience that I can say all the things I feel like saying in YA because I have nothing to hide.
That, my dear asker, is the greatest feeling in the world.

Everyone has a conscience. Its just some peoples conscience arent in depth like some others. Like the guy who shot those girls. Now his conscience told him, hey what your doing is wrong, but it also gave him another stragedy on what and how to do it. So he went with the conscience he liked best. And made the decision to do what he did. What was wrong, but to him, he saw right in it somehow, some crazy way. If you think there is no God, you will believe everything else. Even a impluse is first created in your conscience ( is that spelled right). But you dont go deep into it , you liked what you thought and just it. Which makes it a impluse. But since people dont have God in there lives. And the devil knows who doesnt and who does. He goes after you. And if you dont have God, you dont win. The mind is a terrible thing to waste. Treat it right, or it will take over.
God Bless . Peace

I think that all us do have a conscience.....but I believe that only SOME of us listen to it.
I listen to mine....usually.
But I can tell you from my own experience that not all people listen to theirs. If everyone listened to their conscience then most people in this country wouldn't be in debt! Loan officers would be less concerned with their profit, and more worried about the customers ability to afford the product which they're selling!
Also.....look at the TV commercials we have these days...."What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" Does this sound like a society that listens to it's conscience? Hell no it doesn't!
The people of our country are worried more about self gratification than anything else!

Everyone has one, but because they choose evil instead of the good, their consciences are seared. As it is written:
"Now the Spirit says clearly that in the last times some people will abandon the faith by following deceitful spirits, the teachings of demons, and the hypocrisy of liars, whose consciences have been burned by a hot iron." (I Timothy 4:1-2)

Yes, we do but, in some cases the conscience is so debilitated by sin it does not work anymore. This is why Jesus healed Leprosy more often then other diseases because the first sign of Leprosy is numbness or the loss of feeling. This is the same as a loss of conscience

if you mean with conscience a "sense for right and wrong", a moral and ethical measure, then you are right...
In fact, knowing what is right and what is wrong is one of the fundamental pieces of evidence for God,
throughout history, in all societies, everybody always had a sense of right and wrong, we all know when we do something wrong, we all measure against a standard of goodness and righteousness,
this standard was givcen to us by God, there is no other explanation as socialisation, education etc, would have produces widely different standards during the ages and societies.
The more you follow your path to be a christian and "jesus like", the more your sense for right and wrong will become honed, its a great experience
God loves you and wants you to be with him
God bless you

God has given light to every man. The word con-science means with knowledge. The conscience is the headline warning of sin; the Scriptures give the fine print. No man can say that he doesn't know that it is wrong to murder or commit adultery. That knowledge is written in bold print on his heart. However, in the Scriptures we see the true nature of sin: that God requires truth even in the inward parts (Psalm 51:6). The fine print reveals that lust is adultery of the heart, hatred is murder of the heart. etc.

Yes, we have an inbuilt conscience of knowing when we do wrong, but we all do wrong. Sin and selfishness spoil our lives. They spread like weeds in a garden. Worst of all they separate us from God. This is why God seems remote and irrelevant. He is pure and holy and hates all sin. It blocks the way to Him.
God's character is like a coin with two sides: justice and love. His justice rightly condemns us, for sin must be punished. His love makes Him long for us to become His friends again. On the cross His justice and love were perfectly satisfied.
Do you want to live an easy-going, 'do-as-you-like' life? Do you want to remain dissatisfied and only know the empty, passing pleasures of the world?

The spirit WARS with the flesh.
Some people think they don't have a conscience, and they're
HARD.
But it's trying to IGNORE their conscience that makes them
hard.
