One of the good things to do is the PCC, Hawaii's Polynesian Cultural Center, located in Oahu, http://www.polynesia.com/

There are sooo many attractions, it all depends on what Island you are going to and what your interest are. Are you going with all adults or are you going with kids? Those are important factors. I will just put some key things I can remember here for you. Also, you should visit http://www.hawaii.com and the site is great for loads of info.

The Volcano on the Big Island is a sure bet if you are going to thta Island. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Akaka Falls State Park

The Arizona Memorial Tour / Battleship Missouri tour in Oahu is great as well. Sea Life Park Hawaii, Visit the Waikiki Aquarium, Visit Dole Pineapple Plantation,

You can't visit Hawai'i without seeing a Luau... there are several over there and since we don't know which Island you are going I can't recommend one to you. But if you do the PCC, they have a luau show at the end of the night.

In Maui, you can go and Discover the Road to Hana and Haleakala National Park. Banyan Tree Park

Headed to back to Oahu for new years myself! I'm not sure what you've done so far, but there's plenty to do on Oahu. Here's some less-than-tourist ideas for you. Hit up first Friday in downtown Honolulu- like most American cities with an art scene, Honolulu galleries and studios open up free to the public on the first friday of every month. Great to check out local artists, enjoy free wine and cheese, and enjoy the nightlife without breaking the bank. Visit a state park beach- they're certainly off the tourist radar, and are really nice if you want to feel secluded. Also, taking a hike into the mountains can be touristy or exclusive- it's hit and miss. Check out the Eddie Aikau Memorial Surfing Competition- it's scheduled to occur anytime the North Shore gets a 20 ft. swell between 12/1/2008 and 2/28/2009. This may or may not occur while you're there (or at all), but it would be something to see if the weather's right! As for local fun, check out some of the club websites for honolulu. I don't know what's still hot, but I remember Mai Tais in the Al Moana mall being a great place to hear live reggae, and the place was usually packed!

I live in Hawaii and recommend staying at least three weeks and visiting all five islands. The initial cost of the trip is high so you want to make it worth your while.
I live on Oahu and recommend the Hyatt-Regency Hotel in Waikiki. This puts you right at the best part of the beach for surfing, snorkeling, bathing etc.
You must visit the Polynesian Cultural Center. Also take in their evening show for a complete experience. Be there around noon.
Visit Sea Life Park, Waikiki Aquarium and Zoo.
On the Big Island called Hawaii visit the volcano national park.
Each island offers night life and there are lots of brochures available telling you about them.

My favorite places are the active volcanoes on the Big Island of Hawaii. They are amazing. You'll enjoy them as long as you don't have asthma or any breathing difficulties. The volcanoes vent sulfur constantly and will cause an attack for sensitive people. You should stay at the Volcano House at the National Park there. Make reservations early as the hotel is small and constantly booked. Take a good camera, hiking shoes, a disposable poncho, sunscreen, dark glasses, a cell phone for emergencies, a hat and water. You will not be disappointed!

Hawai‘i is the name of a chain of several islands and are among the numerous Pacific Islands in the Pacific Ocean. Of these, the islands which have significant tourism are: Hawai‘i, O‘ahu, Maui, Kaua‘i, and Lāna'i.

In 2003 alone, according to state government data (see[1]), there were over 6.4 million visitors to the Hawaiian Islands with expenditures of over $10 billion. Due to the mild year-round weather, tourist travel is popular throughout the year. The summer months and major holidays are the most popular times for outsiders to visit, however, especially when residents of the rest of the United States are looking to escape from cold, winter weather. The Japanese, with their economic and historical ties to Hawaii and the USA as well as relative geographical proximity, are also principal tourists.

2005 saw a big increase in tourism, with over 7.3 million visitors.

Well...if you like the nightlife...then Waikiki is for you...if you like laid back relaxing types of things....then the North Shore is great....it will get crowded in the "winter" months here because of the surf...and don't forget to go to a luau if you can...Paradise Cove is a good one. Make sure you hit the beaches...the water here is clean, clear, and beautiful.
