Some more info, I've been seeing the same stylists for a few years now but he went on a leave of absence for 2 months so in the interim I saw a new guy who does Asian styles better which is what I'm going for. I have a 2nd appointment because the original guy is supposed to still be on leave so I have an excuse for the second appointment...the third will be harder to find an excuse for.

First call to see what days the one you're avoiding isn't working (they assume you are making an appointment with that stylist and need to know), then when you find out when he/she won't be there, then you say" thank you, let me check my schedule, I'll call you right back". Then call back in a half hour and say" I only have so and so day available (that day will just happen to be the day your old stylist isn't there), so can I make an appointment with the other so and so?"
There you have it. New appointment, new stylist... no hurt feelings and no guilt. (and you haven't confided in the new stylist about your dilemma, in case you want to switch from the new one later)
Good luck
ps how sweet of you to be so considerate of your stylist's feelings. You must be a really great person

I would talk to the stylist u want to do it first and see how they think it is best to handle it, if my clients switch, I have no prob, Im like hey its ur hair! but when someone elses clients switches to me, I have found a very different reaction, if I know the co worker will get pissed then we just schedule a time that the other stylist wont be there, sneaky maybe but better than hurt feelings, which there shouldnt be cuz we are supposed to be professionals, but when u get that many women working together its always drama! I think its good to have another stylist u can trust in case ur main one is out sick or had surgery, etc.

If u have regular used a particular stylist for awhile...u have to tell them u want to try so and so for a particular style that u liked on someone. If u cannot bring yourself to do that...try and make the apt. when they are not working and tell them u needed it done that day and they were off. Still cannot bring yourself...call and check to see if they are booked..hopefully they are and just get to the other stylist. U will have to talk to original hair stylist though because salon is the #1 place for gossip . If they are professionals they will understand...a little crush but they will eventually get over it.

Its your money and your hair. Not everyone does hair the same way. You have to find someone that does YOUR hair the way you want!! Dont cause a scene, but its a good idea to inform the old stylist of the change. If they are professional they should understand and wish you the best!!!!
Good Luck
