Is it really easier to spell words wrong on the computer? Why does it seem that so many people are prone to terrible mistakes, like "wat" (what) and "rood" (rude)?

Alright... so, my boyfriend said that I should have said "incorrectly on the computer" instead of "wrong on the computer." My appologies.

I agree with you totally. I always try my best to use correct English, even in chat rooms. I don't like the shortcut way of typing, such as "ne" for any, "b4" for before, and the plethora of other ways our language can be butchered. Do they not have grammar and spelling lessons in school anymore?

You are right!!! Just because you are using a computer does not mean that you can throw spelling and grammar right out the window!!!!! It is not easier to spell them wrong... it's just what people do!! I think it's funny when people make up abbreviations for something, and then they have to spend 3 sentences explaining what the new abbreviation means!

1) People are lazy, thanks to the ultra-speed of IM and internet
2) How much time is really spent on grammar and spelling anymore? Zero.
3) People think it makes them look young and "hip"...sorry, all it does is make the reader think you are either illiterate, or 12. Or both. (no offense to 12-year-olds who actually DO use proper spelling and grammar!)

GOTCHA! There's only ONE "p" in apology!
However, I agree that proper spelling and grammar are important.
As for the excuse that "ne" for ANY, and "b4" for "BEFORE" are time-savers: Whom are they trying to fool?
If their time is so fornicatingly precious, why are they posting several hours a day on Yahoo!?

Or should it more properly be referred to as Ya Whom?

I don't understand this, I am with you. We are becoming a society of people that can't write or spell.
