We SHOULD NOT retaliate. This world cannot last through a nuclear war.

The U.S. difficulty here has nothing to do with too many troops being placed elsewhere. The difficulty is simple: North Korea will incinerate Seoul, South Korea, if the U.S. attacks. ...and North Korea need not even use nukes to do this; they have hundreds of thousands of conventional warheads aimed at Seoul and other population hotspots in South Korea. Any decision to act against North Korea must realize that potentially hundreds of thousands of South Koreans will get killed in the first day, and Seoul very much destroyed.

As for "we should not retaliate," my reason above is one reason why we should not, not that the world cannot last through a nuclear war. If the U.S. attacked, it would probably quickly destroy all North Korea's nukes. ...but the U.S. could not stop the destruction of Seoul.

But it would be unfair to just point out the downsides of war, and not the downsides of no war. They include (i) the ability of North Korea to bully its neighbors with increased clout, potentially becoming an increased regional threat with the ability to blackmail the U.S. and others, and (ii) the poor enslaved North Koreans are nailed in their coffins, for one can then see even less chance that those tens of millions will ever be freed from their 50 year long nightmare.

If North Korea is going to let off a nuclear bomb, there is really nothing we can do. Retallition is definalty not the way to go, but sometimes you have to wonder what other choices we have right now..... all our troops are over seas in Iraq, so pretty much we are defenseless.... which is a bad posistion to be in if youa re going to retaliate...

I'm not to worried about them attacking ME.....because I live in souther wisconsin...if they attack they'll hit the west coast cities, or the east coast if they can manage to do that, the closest they could get is chicago to actually make an impact.....but if they do attack us, I'm not to worried cause they'll do 1 of 2 things first-blow the f*uckers off the map...second-initiate a draft and take them out slowly.....I'm also not to worried about getting drafted because I'm going to a 4-year college, but I did sign up for selective service, and I would be the first one in line if I did get drafted, my roommate would be right behind me also.

If terrrorist really wanted to do damage they should some how take out the University systems throughout the united states, it would ruin us for about 20 years. Then again there not that smart over there.

Move all the industry out of China and into India, Ban trade with China. N. Korea is simply an extention of China.

I agree with your view. We have too much to lose by starting a major war.

So far, however, N.K. has not been able to get their missles/bombs very far.
