I feel your pain, I feel like its just way to blunt to go out and say it. What works best for me is just doing casual things like taking her to get coffee or something like that, usually you can just skip that inital stage and start dating if things go well

I've always wanted a guy to just come up to me and tell me he likes me, though. I am sooo bad at picking up on clues and maybe this girl is too. So just tell her, and honestly the only way you'll look like a fool for saying that is if you already know she has a boyfriend or likes someone else. if she doesnt have the same feelings back she's not going to be a ***** (hopefully) and laugh at you, she'll tell you she doesn't and if she does say lets just be friends, she means it.
