The cat looks really young, she was walking around outside, my fiance walked out the door to go to work, and we noticed her. She was stopping and meowing at cars as they went by. She ran up to him real quickly meowing up a storm, started rubbing all over him -- and hasn't left my yard since. I fed her, and gave her water because she looked so out of place -- and I am a sucker for animals. I can't let her in my house, because I have three cats. BUT, here is my dilemma -- she is really skinny but she has like 4 bumps on her belly -- they are a little larger then an egg would be -- I don't know if she is pregnant?? sick? just had kittens and something is wrong with her milk glands? I am going to try and find someone to pick her up -- but I am puzzled over her condition, and quite worried. Any help would be appreciated.

Poor baby! Sound like she has hernias. Do you have a (no kill facility)Humane Society in your area? Call first to your H.S. and ask about their policy ,on length of time to find an adoption. The one in our town calls themselves a humane society, but only give the animals in the shelter 1 week ,then they destroy them. Not too humane in my book . I wish I could help you more. Good Luck to you and the little furry four legger. P.S. She is lucky to have found you! Peace, my friend!

Take her to the vets and get her checked out. It's very important because of the bumps. Many young cats, especially strays, become pregnant but are too young and lose the babies or have problems. Put an ad in the paper if you can or get the word out that you found a cat just in case it is someones pet. Or you can just try to find it a home or take it to a no kill shelter.

It sounds to me like you are "chose!n" to be the caretaker until you can make other arrangements. Do you often have strays show up at your house? Sometimes strange things happen and God knows where to send little lost critters until they find a new home. Just make sure she has water and food. Don't let her near your other kitties and when your man gets home let HIM take the little missy to a shelter....you're a softy! Make sure you wash your hands if you touch her! Keep an eye out for future strays - they're coming to you soon.....you need to have a plan of action. Tape it to your fridge for future reference - you're the "chosen one"!

Don't know what it is, but you might want to call several vets and pose the question. A good person will take the time to answer you. It might be a good way to find a caring vet for your cats too if your own vet won't respond.

If the lumps are around her nipples, it may just be from nursing. She may have kittens somewhere nearby. If you send her away, the kittens will die. She also may be drying up after nursing for a while - she may have been seperated from her kittens. If you can feed her outside for a while, you will be able to tell if she is still nursing. She may even bring the kittens to your home. You could then call someone to take them all to a shelter.

You can bring her to an animal shelter or humaine society. Look in your local yellow pages. Some of these places charge money to take in animals, so call first.

Maybe you should call the vet and see what they say. Or call the humane society and maybe they would take her. I would hate to have a young cat like that outdoors.

Inquire whether there are animal sanctuary in your locality. If there is, you can leave the cat with them and they will take good care of the her.
