Custard, in all practical senses, is a pudding. The 2 are alike.
Mayo and sandwiches compliment each other. Custard and pudding do not.

Are you from Britain? Then you could say this. Custards are definitely very good desserts, maybe even the best. Likewise, mayo is very good on sammies.
*In some countries, such as Great Britain, "pudding" is another word for "dessert"
