i found a 1964.5 mustang, and it needs a lot of work, the seller is the original owner, and he has the original title. it does need a paint job, not many dents/scratches, not much rust, and i think the inside is in fair condition, so im not exactly sure about the inside. he said it cranked 4 years ago(that was the last time he tried), and he asked me to make an offer on it, i am not sure on the engine size or mileage or any of that. every bit of information anybody has will be greatly appriciated. thanks

I love old Mustangs. Its probably worth 1 to 4 k, depending on options, see if he'll take 1200. :) more if its a v8

I guess it's a coupe? If it's a 6 cylinder it's not worth as much as a V8 car. Look long and hard for rust, they're known for it. If it's pretty solid it's probably worth a couple grand.

About 6 years ago I bought a running and driving '67 coupe for 5k. It needed some odds and ends (don't they all) but it had a shiny paint job and everything, drove it home. It's a drive anywhere great car.

I have a 1964.5 convertible all original cali car with AC/PS/PB/2894v/rally pack with 27,000 original miles on it. Everything working and with the original belts on it. Car was a one family owned car and I am the second owner. We just painted it another color and different from the original color that was Chantilly Beige. This car was kept in storage in Cali. for 27 years and the top needs to be changed, will do next week. I had the car appraised and it was appeased at 38,000. When I say everything works I mean everything, the AC still works and it blows Cold. I saw one just like mine go for 60,000 recently but it was a "K" code car and mine is a "D" code and the number is 000137.

Note: I would sell it for 40,000 after next week.

you found a 64.5 mustang with the original owner?

LUCKY!

I LOVE those cars. You need to personally check out everything first before you buy it. Or get a second opinion from someone who knows about this kind of thing.

They vary greatly in price. $1000 to $10,000 unrestored.
V8 Convertibles and fastbacks are the most desirable.
Go to www.nada.com Look under classic cars, 1964. Select your model and options. It will show you low, average and high RETAIL prices.

Get all the details on the car first, and then make your offer low like $5,000-$10,000(considering it's a 42 year old car).
