Because to be quite honest, I find it hard to believe that in this day and age, people this ignorant still exist.
What, did you step back to the dark ages?
Please, for anyone stupid enough to say something this asinine and actually believe it (though I find it difficult to believe) please do some reading on the subject.
First of all, we did NOT evolve from apes. Apes, chimps, monkeys and humans are all primates. Get that simple fact through your thick skulls once and for all ok?
We share a common ancestor. This is fact. Don't try to deny it, it only serves to show how ill-educated you are.
Evolution, just like every other scientific theory (which includes relativity, gravity, thermodynamics, all of them are theories, there is no law of gravity, or relativity or thermodynamics) are both facts and theories at the same time. Yes that happens in science. If you did'nt know that, you must have been asleep in grade 8 science class.

Here is a simple website that can answer your questions about the subject. Provided that you actually READ it and try to understand it. Just skimming does NOT count as reading ok?
I know you're not used to thinking for yourselves, but for once, try it. Who knows you might like it!

If you have any questions, just ask and I'll add the answers in an edit.

Rachel,
did you have a question about evolution? If not, STFU ok? thanks.

Mrs Taz,
Ignorance in any form "hits a nerve" with me. As it does with many people I know.
Just trying to enlighten those with less education. If you don't want that enlightenment, fine. Just don't waste my time.
Deal?

Patrick,
You are referring to (though you don't know it) a transitional fossil.
For humans that would be species like;
Australopithecus Afarensis (lucy)
Australopithecus Robustus
Homo Habilus
and so on.
Trust me, there is no "missing link". The fossil record is complete.

Nikky
It's no use being polite to the ignorant masses. One has to jolt them awake.
Darwin once said;
"Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, and not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science."
And he was so right. So, we must use the same tools that the ignorant do.
It's the only thing that works. If it offends you, then stop reading and find a nice "my little pony" site to play on.

Answer king,
You're trying to use the 2nd theory of thermodynamics. You're actually showing us that your not only ignorant about Evolution, but thermodynamics as well.
Things do not always "break down" that only happens in a closed system.
See the big shiny ball in the sky? That thing is called the sun. It provides us with ample free energy. Thus making the Earth an open system.
I hope that makes sense to you, I really can't dumb it down any more for you.

So carpetbagger,
What you're saying is that you're not intelligent enough to be a smart alec.
But I could see that for myself.

I see many people mindlessly chant this and, "Evolution is just a theory", so often I nearly vomit. Only people who are pathetically ignorant about science blindly believe some naive myths, rather than the latest knowledge. Preachers concoct such stuff as you mention, for if everyone knew religion is nonsense, these con men would need to find honest jobs.

OK, Yoda not everyone believes in the Darwinian theory of the evolution of a species. I used to believe in it until I went to college. I majored in physics so please don't put Darwin's drivel in the same category as relativity, gravity, and thermodynamics. (Which are all areas of physics, by the way.) Take a course in the history of science. Darwin was a pretty apalling guy. His father was a doctor who would outright lie to patients and Darwin thought it was clever.

Darwin did do some great observations about animals in the Galapogos Islands. However, they were only observations, no controlled experiments.

For example, Darwin theorized that iguanas grew to a size supported by their environment, how much food was available. This was true. He further theorized that this was caused by evolutionary changes. Had he moved iguanas between the islands he would have found that it is the availability of food alone that determines size. There is no evolutionary difference between the iguanas.

Also, many advances in microbiology and genetics have proved several of Darwins theories to be completely wrong.

What science does know is that genetic mutations exist. This is beyond Darwin, the technology did not exist in his time. The ramifications of this knowledge are debatable. That is there's a lot of debate about it with several various opinions.

Don't assume that every scientist or educated person believes in Darwin's theories. The old gives way to the new and Darwin's theory is more than 100 years old. Update your knowledge base.

Damn Yoda! I never thought I'd see ya lose it like this! I can't blame you though... i think that us atheists (the only sane people left on earth) will be driven insane by the crazies themselves.

It really is scary how ignorant people are getting, and what's scarier is they think that they are the most perfectly informed people there. On top of this they go around corrupting others with their nutty ideas about what science is when they have no clue themselves.

I'm amazed we ever get anything done anymore. I wouldn't trust some of these people to operate a vehicle properly.

A lot of people that knock evolution have never sat down and read the proven facts. They just go off what some bloke at church told them, I guess for some its easier to believe in Virgin births than scientific evidence.

That question gets asked every day, so, yes, there's plenty of ignorance. Speaking of which, we did indeed evolve from apes. If I showed you a picture of the ancestor we have in common with the chimpanzees, you'd look at it and say, "that's an ape!"

So -- say instead, "We did not evolve from MODERN apes."

I agree with you, BUT

to say "this day and age" our knowledge of evolution has only been around almost 150 years and only accepted as a scientific fact 50 years ago (with continuing resistence) with thousands of years of human history that is nothing, furthermore using the term "dark ages" to describe a group of people who strongly believe in their faith is also wrong and your holier-than-thou attitude is the same that condemn us for our acceptence of the scientific fact of evolution.

Grow up.

I saw someone post a link to Answers in Genesis as a "scientific" site, so yes, you'd best believe there are some REALLY ignorant people out there.

Don't worry. The populations of the species of the Great Apes are so low, that they may well go extinct in the upcoming decades.

2006-10-03 12:14:46 · answer #8 · answered by Anonymous · 2 0

Evolution doesn't make any sense. There are no misssing links. Nothing builds up (evolve) only things wear down.
Another fact that disproves evolution is the fact single celled organisms still exist, how can those exist if everything evoled at the same rate.

And why should we believe such nonsense since half of the bones and skulls your so called scientists have come up with as mid-stages have been proven to be that of deformed men born in the 1700's and one skull that was used for years was proven to be that of a pigs! Do some real homework!
