First off, DON'T yell at them for barking. Try using a soda bottle or coffee can with some coins or pebbles in it. When they start barking, shake the can vigorously to get their attention. As soon as they stop, say "quiet" in a calm, but firm tone. Wait a second or two and if they don't start barking again immediately, praise them in the same calm tone. If they start up again, repeat the process. Eventually they'll catch on, but remember that behavioral changes take time. It could very well be a couple of weeks before you get any real change, but in time they'll settle down after a few warning barks. I trained a very vocal fox hound this way and once he got it, the pointless barking stopped for good and it's much more humane than zapping! Be patient and totally consistant. Good luck!
