You offer a humorous perspective, however, when legally executing a criminal, standards and practices for humane procedures still have to be followed. When a societal debt is warranted by jury or judge, and the state carries out a sentence of death, we as a whole are obligated to do it in a just manner, at least for civil reasons.

If we were to conduct ourselves like animals, no progression in humanity could exist. It's a funny argument, and yeah, I understand a humorous stance on it, and agree with execution practices. ~Be well!

YES, dgr, I am suggesting professionalism.. as you're argument might be seen parallel to an AIDS diseased person. Even though someone with taht disease can be destined for death, does that person not have a right to a dignified death. Do you think all those in the profession at state facililites, dance and shout when an execution is carried out? Do you think when a person dies, it doesn't matter, despite their lifestyle choices, whether criminal, or diseased ridden, (I'm not in anyway suggesting comparisons in moral consequences of the two), however, it's basic, whenever a person dies, and however, society has standards and practices that should be carried out in a professional manner. Imagine a mortician, or funeral director taking a stab at someone's dead body because in life, that body was one of which used a heinous instrument to comment a crime of some magnitude. Would you actually infer or suggest a person not be professional regardless of whatever one does in life, when dealing with their body, during the actual transistion of taking it?I'm just showing another side to an argument, I mean, if we know people are going to die, they should be afforded sanitary proceducres regardless of their actual fate. We're all going to die, so if we dont' set standards of professionalism, how can society uphold any measures taken to preserve life.... hmmmmm

One, such needles are packaged sterile already, and are meant to be thrown away after use. Two, it is unsafe for people who are doing the injecting to have to handle dirty needles. As it is, there are medical personnel who get diseases from accidents with the same sterile needles after they have done the intended work and are no longer sterile....

Probably to protect the people who handle the needles prior to rigging up the injection process

Am I going cross-eyed, or did someone just suggest that lethally injecting someone with a clean needle was "more professional"?

So we can keep the illusion that we have been civilized in our reaction to the whole sordid affair, crime trial punishment.
Personally I would refuse to sit on the jury in a capital case as I do not believe I am qualified to make that judgement. However there are certain crimes for which I believe Execution is the only sane punishment society can apply.

If you are medically trained, you don't just give up your years of training and following procedure because of unusual circumstances.
Also, would you rather handle a sterile needle or one infected with HIV?

For one thing, a dirty needle could prevent the numbing agent from working, which would mean the criminal would die a slow death by suffocation, unable to move.
