I always invite them in. Strangely they don't stay long.

My ex-wife and I was living in Memphis back in the early 80's. I was in the military and every Thursday a specific religious group would always knock on our door, trying to introduce us to their way of belief. After about a month of saying no thank you, we answered the door for the last time totally naked and invited them in. They never returned.

It's one of the favorite memories I have of my younger days.

Strangely they don't stay long.

We love chocolate cake, have you ever offered cake.

I am sure glad they knocked at my door, otherwise would not have the Truth that is in the Bible.

Recently a clergyman in Brooklyn, New York, obtained a copy of the book The Truth That Leads to Eternal Life. He was so impressed with the chapter dealing with prayer that he used the book to teach members of his church this chapter in a special meeting. Later he was asked by one of them, “Are you teaching us out of those Jehovah’s witnesses’ books?”

He replied: “It is the truth, isn’t it? When you want Sunday-school literature, you buy it from several sources, don’t you? Well, Jehovah’s witnesses teach the truth. Furthermore, when you see Jehovah’s witnesses with the Watchtower magazine, you ought to take it, because they print the truth.”

Last year 2005, 247,631, became Jehovah's Witnesses and everyone of these had to change their minds pertaining to the false teachings that they had been taught, these were people that used their own Bible, King James, etc., 28,384 were from the United States.

Has your minister, priest or religious leader mentioned this wonderful hope to you? Of course they have not, most clergymen say nothing about it. In fact, many do not even believe the Bible. This is an important reason why Jehovah’s witnesses call at the homes of people of other religions.

The efforts of Jehovah’s witnesses to approach people in public and at their homes are rooted in the Word of God. Jesus himself went directly to the people, and he instructed his apostles and disciples to do likewise.

The Witnesses’ beliefs, based entirely on God’s Word, the Bible, prevent them from falling into the trap of becoming a sect or a cult. They take a kindly interest in all other people, of whatever religious persuasion. No, they do not try to force these people to change their viewpoint. They endeavor to imitate their Leader, Christ Jesus, by presenting Scriptural evidence of the trouble-free Paradise that will soon be established on earth

Pet peeve! I've often said that if they would just open with the question "Do you have your own religious beliefs?" I might be inclined to invite them in for some philosophical discussion. As it stands though, there is as much chance of that as the proverbial camel fitting through the eye of the needle. The last group that tried it was so obnoxious - the idiot was actually waving his bible in front of my face at the door - that I told them to get off my doorstep before I put a hex on every last one of you. They backed off so fast I thought they'd been a hallucination. My husband laughed until he cried. I don't really practice hoodoo or anything, but I'm sick to death of the blighters. The first ones that show me common respect will get the same in return. Until then...

They can be a little pushy. But I have a fenced yard and 3 dogs, only problem is no one ever comes to my house, not even the religious people!

Actually, I really do. I find them interesting people, and you can have a conversation with them that is at once lively and non-threatning, since while you often have differing viewpoints, they're in a strange persons house, and only an idiot would get aggressive or violent when in a place that they had no certainty they could escape from...

I was one of those religious door nockers for two years. LDS not JW. I love my religion and only want to share it. Personally I would rather if you were just straight forward and told me you wern't interested than invite me in to try to imbaress me. One of these days it will come back to bite you. You will meet some one who is not just knowledgeable about there religion but about yours and the scriptures. When you do it will be you asking them to leave instead of them leaving.

Yes,

I know several faithful brothers and sisters who once told Jehovah's Witnesses to leave and never come back.

They are some of the most zealous ministers, because they look for people who are as they were.

I have grown tired of it, they put their zeal to try to convert me, before my need to sleep [I work shift work]. I have been nice, and told them and told them for years, it falls on zealous, deaf ears. Next knock on the door, not so nice me will answer. Since I found out that one group thinks that people who are not of their religion are devils, well, they will think they have really seen one answer the door if they wake me up one more time.

Maybe I have more people skills than most YA answers people, but I can usually get rid of them in less than 30 seconds without concocting any weird stories or hurting their feelings.
