This phrase is indicative of terror and alarm rather than real danger. It may be a play on the French phrase "morbleu". The usual use of the phrase is "to scream blue murder".

I thought of bluebeard too but perhaps it refers to strangulation - the victim turns blue in the face (lack of oxygen). But more blue as in violent I would think. Also heard Bloody murder in my time.
as used by your mum it means that you get away with some really awful misdemeanours probably by your 'charm' i.e. talk yourself out of it.
