Ol' Roy is a cheap dog food. You get what you pay for.

To be honest its pretty crappy dog food. It has more fillers than meat or protein.

I would try Dog Chow because its price is average...not too cheap & not too expensive.

Your dog is soooooo worth it!!!!!

The cup amounts really have nothing to do with it. Feeding guidelines are what they are.. just suggested guidelines. Ol' Roy may not be on my food list or something I would consider feeding my own dogs, but hey, I've known people feed their dogs nothing but Dog Chow or Ol' Roy that lived surprisingly long, healthy lives. Much longer than I would have ever dared believe. Bottom line is, I'd much rather see a dog in a home and at least fed regular meals, and loved and cared for, as best the owner can, than to see it homeless or euthanized. If your dog does well on Ol' Roy or Purina then good for you. If you want to consider other things, raw is great to for them to, and really not all that expensive. Look for things like pork neck bones or chicken leg quarters on sale at your local meat market. Mix it up and feed both some raw and some kibble. Your dogs will probably love you for it! When it comes to kibble, I recommend the grain free ones. Dogs usually have much less allergies, and a lot less ear/skin or yeast problems, because there's no corn, wheat etc. Some grains are better than others though. Oatmeal, barley and rice are usually much less allergenic than corn, wheat, soy etc. When it comes to food, feed what best you can afford. Good luck!!

Calories are not the biggest factor when it comes to choosing a dog food. Most gocery story brands contain a lot corn, ash, and other junk that can lead to health problems down the road, not to mention more poop for you to clean up. All that junk just passes through their system, it doesnt get absorbed, which leads to more waste. Read the ingedients, thats they key, not calories.

If you really want to know the calories, there should be a 1-800 number on the bag you can call, and ask.

Personally I would not buy the wal-mart brand for my dog. Apparently Im not the only one, here is a site where people have reviewed this food.

Try Natural Choice or Nutro Max. Both very excellant and you can purchase them at Pet Smart. As far as Ol' Roy dog food is concerned......let me ask you this. Would you eat sugar coated garbage? Then why would you buy cheap crap food from Wal Mart and feed it to your dog? All in the name of saving money? All the money you think you are saving in the long run will only add health issues/ problems to your dog. Leave the cheap crap alone.

Look at the ingredients label on the bag. Look for high protein and fiber and not too much of the other stuff like corn. That's better than calories.

Then ask your vet for suggestions about what to feed your dog and how much & how often. Then make sure you also exercise your dog.'
