Since many are so quick to label the Anti-Illegal crowd as "racist", "bigots", or "rednecks", I was just wondering if I'm the only one who thinks it is possible.

My position:
I'm okay with legal immigration, just not illegal. Some would automatically call me a racist. Yet I have a son who is half Mexican, and I'm pretty sure I don't hate my own boy.

So, do you think all those who are against illegal immigration are bigots? Or is calling them that just an easy way to discount their point of view?

There are some immigrants that are against illegal immigrants, so are they racist?

Wouldn't you get mad if you filled out your paperwork, waited, obtained your work visa, earned citizenship, and then turned around and seen a bunch of others just coming right in? Would that be fair to you?

Illegals are not fair the the ones that spent a lot of time waiting and following the rules to get here.

The only reason Legal immigrants would support illegal immigration is when they don't understand the concept. I know many legal immigrants and the illegals scare them into supporting them because they tell them that the US is going to send EVERYONE back, even the legal ones.

Most definitely - first off "Hispanic" is not a race, it's an ethnicity, like Italian (when my grandfather came over, the people who discriminated against him were not labeled "racists"). The people who back the illegals cry racism as a means of gaining sympathy from politically correct crowd, since being labeled a racist is about the worst thing you can call someone.

The sad thing here is that "illegals" are being exploited. They are being exploited for political purposes, but they are also being exploited as almost slave labor - they are paid less than minimum wage, they are worked longer hours than considered reasonable, they don't receive health benefits and they are often subjected to unsafe working conditions (next time you see on the news that a trench collapsed in your town, take note of two things, the names of the victims and the fact that the trench was not properly shored up - it's much cheaper and quicker to just send a few illegals down there and not shore it up properly. This sort of thing goes on in argiculture and construction all the time).

I'm all for legal immigration, even to fill the jobs that Americans don't want to do, but if the jobs paid a fair wage, had basic benefits and followed labor laws, maybe more Americans would want them.

Yes it is possible. Most people that are anti-illegal immigration are not racist or bigots. But it is a ploy by the pro illegal immigrant crowd to frighten everyone into being on their side. They play on the stigma of being labeled racist to make sure people are either quiet about their anti illegal view or will vote their way because they don't want to be a racist.

It is really sad when the only way to win your argument is with fear and intimidation.

I agree with you, I don't believe being anti-illegal and racist would have to be the same thing. I had many friends when I lived in south Texas, who were of Mexican decent, who didn't like it when the Mexican people from Mexico came over illegally.

Sure. I am all for legal immigation but 100% against illegal immigration. I am a legal immigrant and live in Mexico, have a mexicna girl friend, love everything Mexican but hate the illegal Mexicans entering USA. I am not racist actually I am a half breed myself and love all race and culture.

THE ONES WHO CALL US ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION SUPPORTS RACIST ARE JUST DOING SO BECAUSE THEY CANT JUSTIFY WHY THEY THEMSELFS SUPPORT ILLEGALS AND SO THEY DODGE THE ISSUE BY BLAMING THE ONES WHO ARE AGAINST ILLEGALS IN THE USA.

Of course you can be anti illegal and not feel
hate for some one.The pro illegal wants to call
everyone that opposes the illegal a racists and
its just playing the race card because they
don't have a viable argument for the illegal to
be here.I don't hate anyone but I do not
want my state and city to be inundated by
an endless flow of illegals from any country
.Because I live in a border state its a huge
drain on our public services,schools,
hospitals,prisons,
entitlements etc.
Cheap labor is costing far more than
it brings to this country.illegals sent
$24 billion dollars back to Mexico
from the US last year,to their family's,
and yet they cant pay the bills to our
Er's that they run up.They don't help
the economy,they endanger it.
That's a few reasons I don't want any
illegals in this country. Its not racism its reality.
There is a big difference.

Of course it's possible. I'm against illegal immigration. I live in Texas and I have more Mexican friends than whites. People that play the race card do it because they have no argument.

Of course. Calling people who are anti-illegal immigration racist is just mindless name-calling that's used to divert attention. It's a way of 'putting down' or trying to shame people that want to regulate immigration. They do this to affect public opinion at the margin - that is, to affect the opinions of people that don't think too hard about these things.

its straight to be against illegal immigration. it makes sense after all, they are breaking the law. Its just that i personally feel that illegal immigration isnt a big problem at all in the US, and conservatives are just trying to get rid of Mexicans because theyre racists. thats why they are focusing so much on mexico and not other illegal immigrants.
