"He could be her brother, or cousin, or roommate. If he's
really unlucky, he's someone with whom she's "just friends," which, being translated from womanese means, "he takes me everywhere and pays for everything, but if he tries to put a finger on me he'll never see me again." Brutal, aren't

In my 32 years of experience, I have never encountered a male friend who at one point and time, doesn't want a romance, or a lay. Even if they are respectful, there is usually a desire to go beyond friends at some point.

I think that it is VERY hard for women and men to be just friends more then likely one of them will be attracted to the other and that can lead to hurt feelings. About the guys paying for everything I DONT agree with that, but oh well. I guess I'm not a good judge of this question b'cuz most of my guy friends have become more than just friends ya know when ya hang out and then ya start drinking I really dont think
I need to explain any more. So bottom line for me men and women can not be JUST friends

Yes, we do. A friend is a friend, no matter the age or gender. If one partner is attracted and the other is not then you are honest, get over it, and move on with deepening the platonic friendship. Of my closest friends, half are male. This is partly because I have non-traditional interests for a woman, such as mountain-climbing and 3rd world development, but it is partly common sense and maturity.

Yes... of course women can have male friends. When one considers that we live, work and attend school in (usually) a co-ed environment, it would be unatural not to make friends with members of the opposite sex. Not everyone feels sexual attraction JUST because they are acquainted and of opposite sexes.
Personally, I would find it odd to only have same-sex friends. I think it warps your perception of reality. The trick is not to be paranoid about your partner and to trust each other.

yes girls can just be friends with males. Most of my friends are male. Male friends are so much easier to get along with so much easier to talk to too. Look jealously is ugly so don't go that way you wont keep a girl if you cant trust her just a little advice.

Yes....women really do have male friends...but I would not describe the relationship you are describing as a friendship between a man and a woman.....sounds like she's a user to me.

I never had any. Um one, considered me a friend, but he was a crazy dumbass freak. friend was a very very strong term, even if he did he supposedly liked me.
