The bible teaches us Christians to love thy neighbor. And I believe that includes respect. Just because you don't believe in the same things as others or see things differently as others, you have no right to be rude to them. My MIL is Catholic and I am Christian. We have different beliefs. I would never talk down to her about her religion nor anyone else's. What does say about me and MY religion? Great Question!!

Yes, I think we all should respect each other a lot more for a lot of reasons. You're right, we don't have to believe in the other religions but we should respect each other and accept the fact that everyone is different and everyone has their own beliefs.

One of the Tibetan lamas I met makes it a condition that anyone who wants to take refuge (formally become a Buddhist) with him, vows to refrain from saying any bad or disrespectful word about any other religion.
I think that's a very wise attitude. Concentrate on your own quest for Truth rather than criticizing other people's honest search.

yes. a good religious person should respect others beliefs just as she wants her beliefs respected. all religions are man made anyway...and we alll believe in the same God...we just call him different things and have different rituals/names/texts. in the end, it is all the same. even if it isn't...who are you to disrespect what another person deeply believes in?

does this include religious cults like Charlie Mansons and Waco?
If you just mean regular conformed religions, i dont care what people believe provided they aren't pushing their beliefs on others. Some people need faith, some dont and all should respect each others choice.

yes we have to respect all religions. that is what Islam preaches. We are not allowed to force people to be Muslims. We can just offer Da'wah (Information about Islam) but the choice is entirely up to the individual.

I am a Christian, and yes, I do respect other religions (although I do not agree) as I respect other people. We are told to love our enemies no matter what they do to us or what they say

I can only speak for my relationship with Jesus Christ...
We are to go out and spread the Gospel of Jesus. We are not told to brow beat or kill anyone for not believing. It's about faith and free will!
Everyone is entitled to believe what that want to believe. I may not agree but I won't hate on them!
Jesus tells us to love God the Father with everything we have (greatest commandment) and the second one is to love one another has He (Jesus) has loved us.
