all you can do is wait. the owners might put up signs that are looking for two missing terriers. if not then go to the animal shelter again and report the dogs. if they don't help then you might want to try putting up signs. or do that now before its too late.

First, find out if they are chipped.

If not, place an ad in the local paper under "found pets". Then see if there is a local jack russell group and let them know you found the dogs. Their owner may be a member. Let the local police know you found these dogs. The owner may have reported them missing or stolen. Place an ad on craigslist in your area in the pets section and search for lost pet ads as well. Put their photo up in local pet shop with a found sign. Bring their photo to local vets because the vet might recognize them.

I bet someone is just devastated that they lost them. Take them to a vet and be sure that they haven't a chip. If not have the local paper put an add and your animal shelter post that you have found them.
Jack Russells are wonderful but VERY active. If you do not hear from anyone, check your area to see how long you have to wait and then they are yours to keep.
Good Luck

Either keep them or contact a jack russell rescue group. You can call a local veterinarian or an animal shelter and they should be able to give you some numbers for rescue groups. Did you have them scanned for microchips?

Take them to the vet and have them checked for a microchip. If they don't have them, then just keep an eye out for signs. Your vet could probably tell you how long you legally have to "look" for the owner before you can legally keep the dogs yourself (in our area, it is 10 days). Jacks are fun, but very full of energy.

Take them down to the animal shelter so that the owners can find them!

Good luck

I would call around to the vet clinics in your area and let them know that you have found them and they will contact the owners but they shouldn't give your number out-the contact should be between you and the clinic only.

They are such pains in the butt that the owners were glad to be rid of them. Give them room to run and a lot of patience and they will be good dogs for you. If not , let some other poor slob suffer.

I would go on the computer and conatct a local rescue that would take them if you don't want them. What city do you live in? I'm looking for a Jack I already have one named Crackers.
