You need to renew your mind. Once you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior there is a process where you need to let Him redeem your whole life past, present and future, and let him renew your mind by His word.

You need to take up the "Helmet of salvation". Search out the Word of God about who you really are as a child of the Great King, read His word every day. Explore it in different ways, and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Receive encouragement from the brothers and sisters in your local congregation also.

All of these things work together to strengthen you in your mind and will to fight off past feelings of weakness and inadequacy.

Make sure that you are using an easy to read and understand contemporary version of the bible. There are some here for you to try out: http://www.biblegateway.com/

I'm a Christian like you and I know the feeling(s) you are talking about - I worry too. Someone told me that, the more you feel that way, the closer you actually are getting to God, and Satan wants to do whatever he can to confuse you.
I don't think we will see any special "sign" or proof just yet. That's why we should keep our faith strong. A lot of people will come on here and say stuff to either confuse you more , so you need to stay strong in your heart.

Just look at the people you love, the ones who really love you and care deeply for you: that is a part of God. He sends us little clues through others or through events. I'm not very good explaining stuff, so maybe it didn't come out right.

It may be good for you to find a pastor, minister, etc. and discuss these feelings you have. Luckily, my two sisters are just a phone's reach away and they have really helped me through some rough times. I do tend to steer off the path at times, momentarily usually, like when I hear too much talk about hate, bitterness, war, etc. I become depressed and go through your same questions. I think all Christians do - or people of any religion.

I probably didn't help much, I'm sorry. I wanted to but as I said, I don't always explain things right. I do know that I always feel happier when I'm in tune with God. Keep strong and keep your chin up. :) I'll pray for you also.

God is not ignoring you. God always hears you and will answer. Do you read your Bible often? If not, that is one of the problems. I know when I let up on studing my Bible this seems to happen to me as well. Pray before you read and ask God to give you a higher understanding. He will.

God wants you to know how to live a Christian life, and the Bible is your instruction book. It will reveal so much to you.

Is there anyone that you have anything against? If so, forgive them. Unforgivness can build a barrier between us and God. Get rid of any walls, and you will start feeling God's presence more in your life.

You say you want more faith try a faith based church if you are not already in one.

Here is a prayer from Ephesians 1:17-23. Put your name in where I put ME, I, or MY, and pray it over yourself every morning and night.

17. That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto ME the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18. The eyes of MY understanding being enlightened; that I may know what is the hope of MY calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19. And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to ME who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20. Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21. Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22. And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23. Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

If you have another version of the Bible that you like better use it. Don't quit. EVER. What you are about to find in yourself through Christ, is going to light up your world.

Blessings and Love from another Christian.

My only advice is just continue to read the bible and pray. You will continue to grow and strengthen in your faith. We all go through times where we're particularly weak in faith, you are not alone. The cure is God Himself. Keep looking to Him for guidance and He will comfort you. As long as you understand that you are God's child and He loves you and wants the best for you and that He wants you to know Him better. We have a mighty God that holds the whole universe in the palm of His hand. That is a huge, sovereign God we have! And His love for us is just as great. He is your protector. Take comfort in Him and believe Him when He says, nothing, no not anything, can snatch a believer out of His hand. He is not a liar. He hears your prayers. He knows what your dealing with right now. I don't know if He's testing your faith...no one knows what's going on, but Him. What I do know is that you are being strengthened in your faith and knowledge, whether you realize that or not. When you start doubting just know that it isn't God giving you those doubts. Understand that as a Christian you will be attacked by satan and attacked often. I don't know why this is, it just is. Just say, "The Lord Jesus rebukes you satan in the name of Jesus Christ, be gone!" I know that sounds crazy, Middle Ageish, but it works for me, whenever I feel like I'm getting attacked. It's amazing how all those feelings of doubt get replaced by an overwhelming feeling of love and peace. Besides, satan isn't the brightest bulb on the block to think he can even attempt to take anything away that belongs to the One, God Almighty. And make no mistake you are His, if you are a true Christian., you belong to Him. And He'll help you through this, just stay with Him and I promise you'll be stronger in faith because of it. Whenever you feel your weakest, faith wise, that is the time to put everything you have into prayer, bible study, and worship of Him. You are not wasting your time seeking God and He most definitely does exists...Keep in His word and He will reveal His truth when He feels you are ready for more understanding. God Bless. I'll pray for you.

In Christ,
John

That undertaking on your head is termed doubt. i'm not a Christian, with the help of ways, yet i be attentive to the way doubt could be painful. i might think of that's quite complicated in concerns of religion, whilst there is not an basic connection with seek for, you basically could shop believing. yet doubt is organic. in actuality, that's the folk who do not doubt, or a minimum of refuse to confess doubt that are frightening. little doubt leaves no room to develop, not on your faith or otherwise. Doubt's what encourages you to truly detect the form you sense and picture approximately your ideals. You undertaking them, and notice in the event that they're wanting. Plus, if God confirmed everybody on your place an illustration, you won't could call it faith. you may say it extremely is a attempt. you may additionally say there is not any God. that's as much as you to make certain on your own. remember that there is not any basic solutions, be careful of accepting what you will possibly prefer to have confidence, value that on an identical scale because of the fact the failings you do not, and settle for that the respond won't be the single you're finding for, or you will by no skill detect a pleasant answer. the significant undertaking to bear in thoughts is which you at the instant are common or un-Christian for having those doubts. They afflict everybody, and that's portion of the approach. remember this? Matthew 27:40 six (New international version) 46About the 9th hour Jesus cried out in a noisy voice, "Eloi, Eloi,[a] lama sabachthani?"—meaning, "My God, my God, why have you ever forsaken me?"[b] besides, you be attentive to the way that tale ended.

Give Proverbs 3 a read, specifically verse 5 which I have included below.

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;

Faith is like a muscle; to make it strong exercise is required. After a while you don't even realize when you're using it; it becomes a natural part of your daily lifestyle.

Check out http://www.rbc.org/odb/odb.shtml for a daily devotional; I try to read it every morning before I start my work day. Funny enough.. I liked the quote they reference and made a little sign that I taped to the wall for me to remember daily.

God knows we're not perfect and we have struggles. He wants us to turn to him and other Christians when in need; just like you have done today.

God Bless!

By the way... the Christians above have posted you some excellent advice! We're here for you!

I have had the same feelings. But remember that these are just feelings and emotions. ironically, this is how God draws us closer to Him. You see, when we are feeling strong and are following God, he steps back and watches us. This is when we get these feelings. But what God wants to see is if we, even when we are feeling lost, helpless, or confused, will still follow Him. He could just stay by us all the time, but then it would not so much be our free will. Follow God even through trials and you will find you will grow even closer to Him. Also, this is the devil trying to trick you, and you must remember that everyone has these thoughts, but we keep in our journey because of our faith.

Pray for a stronger faith. Don't ask for signs. Jesus tells us that an adulterous generation asks for a sign but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

Chances are, God has shown Himself to you but maybe you didn't notice. Look around at the small things in your life. That's where you see His miracles every day.

Hi, I was just wondering if you go to Church regularly and if you read your Bible. Do you pray or even just talk to God. I noticed you write God with a small g. Just a small thing but really means a lot. God is not going to do a miracle to let you know He is there, if He would do that, than non believers would believe too. We have to believe with out seeing. Faith.

But you know what, God will answer your prayers! I promise you that, but you have to be close to Him. Start by reading your Bible for just about 5 minutes a day. Start by reading 1 John. This is a great book for new Christians or Christians who are unsure if they are saved.
story-
There was a man who was in his house and there was a flood. He prayed to God save me! pretty soon some men in a boat came and said climb in, the man said no, God will save me. Soon the water was higher and the man was on his roof. Another boat came by, get in the men said. No, God will save me. A little later a helicoper came by. Climb up my ladder, the pilot said. No, God will save me. The man drowned. When he got to heaven the man asked God, why didn't you save me? God answered, I sent you two boats and a helicopter, but you weren't listening.
Point-God uses others to answer our prayers, but you have to be close enough to Him to listen. Start reading, praying and worshiping. He'll be there, close to you. You'll see.

God Bless!

Honey, GOD IS REALLY THERE! And the nagging voice in your head is the enemy! Trying to bring doubt(as it sounds it is working), and unbelief! Remember to to take captive of every thought! And Tell the 'lie' that it does not have authority in your thoughts to go (in the name of Jesus) Proclaim the mind of Christ! Then Proclaim that Jesus reigns in your thoughts,Only! And for the stronger faith you desire.... God hears you! And it may be that he is allowing this' testing" to happen to see how and where your 'faith' will be! God will never allow us His children to go through anything without already knowing we can handle IT! BE BLESSED!
