There are a couple of sources for grants and scholarship money for students. First, there is the federal government at FAFSA.ed.gov which will tap into both federal and college need based grant money. Second, 35 states offer a college application and need based grant funding website which can be located by searching at Google.com and Yahoo.com. Third, your high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships. Finally, there are free membership scholarship search engines. It is not too early to apply for the scholarships, but you will have to wait until January to apply for FAFSA.ed.gov.

You won't know until you apply for financial aid. Grants are given by state. Fill out the free FAFSA. You'll get state and federal grants if you qualify for financial aid and the school that accepts you will send you a financial aid package based on scholastic merit and financial need. It will have grants, scholarships from the school, work study, federal/school funded loans etc...
Good luck

If you're a dependent, then a lot of it depends on your family's income. Many grants are need-based. Your best bet is to fill out a fafsa and they will award you whatever grants/scholarships/loans you qualify for.
